Probably both. I mean, what the fuck where they doing? Like, have you heard their voices? They all talk like little three year olds. And they do weird stuff, you know? They jump around and stuff. And it's all so awkward. It's like... I don't know. Anime reminds me of people who gets off on pretending they're babies and shit in diapers and stuff (yes, i've watched some real weird documentaries in my life)

Pretty sure I will cringe, if not by the plot, then by thinking of people I know that watched it and also made me cringe a lot. I don't know man, anime just isn't for me.

Pretty sure I will cringe, if not by the plot, then by thinking of people I know that watched it and also made me cringe a lot. I don't know man, anime just isn't for me. 
Well thats a problem then. There a lots of great anime, but if you cringe only by thinking of other people watching the series, then theres not much to do.
Buuut, you could give a series, where you would not cringe normally, a try.

Some dubs aren't that good either, so if that's what was cringy to you then watch the subbed version or another anime with a better dub. And I guess anime isn't for everyone either. Some people like it, some people don't. It doesn't always have to be an explanation for it.
