I don’t think it’s possible to be completely unselfish, no matter who you are and where you come from
It's impossible, even good acts towards other can be interpreted as ways of putting yourself in a "higher" position to others. Charity e.g. is from my point of view more about being like "hi I'm so nice, look at me donating to less fortunate people" etc. so people will perceive them as good people.
I view charity the same way. Not always the case, of course, but it does come off like that sometimes. A good example is the new birthday donation thing on Facebook. Suddenly everyone feels obligated to do it, or they’ll seem «selfish,» so in the act of doing it only to seem unselfish, it becomes selfish. I deliberately chose not to do it because I feel like it’s just a way for people to feel good about themselves.
Bless, I feel the same about it. I think that if you give donations directly and anonymously that's almost possible to perceive as a selfless act, but it might also be to some extent still a bit selfish? If it's about feeling better about yourself by helping others. Again, matter of perspective.
