Poll: Is education free in your country?
FT: Should education be free?

to keep it short i won't post all my opinions or go in depth on the topic.

I believe that free education (also included uni) is important because it will help people have a closer to equal opportunity for learning and having the same opportunity for jobs and so on.

If it costs money people who already have a family with good economy will continue to gain, but those who doesn't will most likely never get the chance (ofc with exceptions), .  This will also make the economic differences between people bigger.

ofc there will always be differences, like people who have parents that's good academically will have de opportunity to get help from them, this is why i said closer to equal opportunity.

i feel like this is more like "common knowledge".. but apparently it isn't

people shouldn't be rewarded on what their family has/has accomplished, but by their own work.

eh i should stop now.

it is free in functioning countries to a large extent already
but then why is America not free already? besides the fact that our government is full of trash-eating ignorant apes? I mean, if it doesn't hurt anything in some of the world's best countries, what exactly do we need the money for?

If education isn't already free, then yes, it would "hurt" economically to make it free. You would either have to raise taxes or take money from other areas to cover the cost. I can't say I know all too much about it, but I'd assume that in countries where taxes are lower, it's more likely that you have to pay for education yourself. I obviously think education should be financed through taxes, so higher taxes are definitely acceptable if it contributes to free education.

I think that all education should be free so that all children and young people receive an education and learn everything one should.
The material you get at the university when you study further should also be free. If it is now going to cost(as it does) then I think you should get a study grant and not just take a loan.

Yes, public schooling is paid for through taxes in the US. Private schools are not since the Government doesn't fund them.
If college were free it'd likely be paid for by everyone through taxes as well. That may be a good thing, but a lot of people still won't like it tbh.
The costs now to attend Uni in the US is ridiculous though and student debt is definitely a huge problem so something needs to be done.

it isn't free for non-europeans in most european countries sadly, there's a few exceptions. i think uni is free for foreign students in Norway and Slovenia (possibly a few more)
At least I know Norwegian universities don't differentiate between students from various countries with price.
