Interesting, in English they refer to colocasias as elephant ear plants, I don't see the pileas resemblance to elephant ears if I'm being honest.

Oh right, they sometimes grow trunks! They're cool plants, I like them. That's fair, I said it before and I'll say it again, native English speakers are the most entitled speakers, they often expect people to speak perfect English while not speaking a second language, it really bothers me.

It's okay, I saw it anyway, obviously. Thanks for tagging me this time. Do you want me to tag you as well?

Thank you, I hope so too but I'm not too hopeful, it's been pretty shit since Rabin, and I wasn't even born then. I mean, every prime minister after him has been corrupt so that's pretty fucking shit. I know, you make that very clear and I appreciate that,  lot of people aren't as careful or don't word themselves quite as well as you do during arguments, myself included and I really admire that about you. I mean, I try my best but ehh... I also appreciate the fact that you don't have an issue with the notion of Israel, a lot of people don't understand the Jewish people's need for a homeland and our connection to the region, I mean, Judea and specifically Jerusalem are pretty much the only tangible thing that's holy to religious Jews and non religious Jews like myself have a very strong cultural connection to the region. Not to negate the Palestinians connection to the land, of course, two peoples can have a connection to the same thing, hence the old testament. Honestly the fact that I have to stress that is bothersome but this is the world we live in.
Hmmm

My tropic snow never fails to amaze me, it keeps getting a ridiculous amount of new leaves and I don't even understand. I decided to hold back on the water as I watered it quite heavily before I left and I see no sign in it being thirsty yet either.

Yeah.. And non-native speakers need to become less aware of not sounding native because we aren't and shouldn't be ashamed because if anything it's very impressive to be able to communicate in something other than your mother tongue.

I think the core of the issue in the region is just like.. I cannot foresee a future with no international issues in the region. It all dates so far back it has borderline became what the region is, which is sad as it is probably a beautiful place (it should be at least strategically worth all the battles through history anyway). The entire Mediterranean area is quite problematic when you look at the history, with pretty much constant conflict, either international or within a nation. The issue in the region is also very complex, which people tend to ignore. It is often like that, a lot of people overlook WWI when talking about WWII which I honestly don't think is possible. Conflict is always difficult to deal with and the issue is never black and white.
My biggest issue with how it is from the Israeli side is how it seems like Palestinian land is slowly but steadily occupied forcing a lot of people from their homes and observing that from the outside is just horrible. I have to add that I can never accept Jerusalem as a capital city because of the cultural and political role of the city, ideally it should have a similar role as Vatican City.. although it would be problematic as well. There is no easy fix, it might not even be a fix to the problem.
@Alam
I guess they might store water in their thick ass not a trunk thingamabob.

Hundo p, I work hard to learn languages that aren't my native languages (those being Hebrew and English, sort of, as I spent three years in Canada from age 3 which is why I speak English) but It's really hard so I'm always instantly smitten (or more accurately, a jealous little fuck) whenever I meet somebody that speaks languages that aren't their mother tongue.

That's true, it's because it's always been a very important import and transport hub (hope you appreciate alliteration).
The whole occupation thing is very complicated though, and I don't really want to get into it both because I disagree with Israelis choosing to live there (I don't think those that already do should or could be forced out, at least not in areas c) and because this isn't the time nor the place, I mean, this is a plant thread for goodness sake, but I will say that I find the whole ordeal very confusing, what is considered okay to keep in a war and what is it? Why, regardless of treatment, was it okay for the west bank to have been occupied by Jorden but not by Israel? How is it different to the golan heights or Sinai? Is the Jewish connection to the land not important in this equation? Is the Palestinian connection to the land not important in this equation? I don't fucking know, I'm a dumbass!
This is where we disagree, I think Jerusalem was conquered fair and square in battle (with Jordan, mind you)(I don't know if you can say that about anything when it comes to war, but if you can, you can say it about Jerusalem) and has been developed and brought to where it's at by Israelis. I think you'll find a majority of Arabs in Jerusalem prefer to be in Israel than Palestine, as has been exemplified by their reaction to Trump's stupid peace deal. That being said, I don't speak for them so I don't know. I also think it would never work as a city like the Vatican which is why it is best for it to be under Israeli control, as I doubt it would ever be accessible to Jews (not Israelis, Jews) if it were under Palestinian sovereignty. That being said, I wish it were more accessible to Palestinians, but sadly it has proven to be a security risk, to put it lightly.
And yet again I didn't tag you. Fuck. @Snusmumrikken

I dont have them green fingers/thumbs. My mother on the other hand, her house is filled to the brink with plants.

I do want to get myself an indoor citrus tree but I'm too scared, idk if I'll be able to keep it "alive". They do require some care: I suck at takin care of plants and almost never have time
I don't have a green thumb either but there haven't been that many plants who have died on me (yet)
"yet"...
hopefully they won't.

no but fr I suck completely, even my aloe plant died on me... that's kinda worriesome c'x

edit: thanks for the vid, will definitely take a look at it
I had a ficus benjamina who died, and a yucca palm that died.. same reason: over-watering, resulting in root rot

I'm glad we returned to plants! Not so far, not that I've noticed, I'm hoping for it not to be too much of an issue but who knows. My mum has always had houseplants all over the house  but I've never heard her complain about pests. We do however have a lot of problems with pests sometimes with our outside plants, so I don't really know. How about you?

Not as I know, my sister and mother has had mealy bugs and spider mites. The mealy bugs are by far the most disgusting ones, they are so white it's surreal. I do inspect my plants quite carefully before buying them. I'm a bit sceptical towards one of the plants I bought today but I washed the leaves pretty intensely when I got home

Yucca palms are incredibly pretty, the thing is I watered it quite intensely before I left for Christmas (3-4 weeks away from plants) and .. it died from that, it was surreal coming back and seeing how the stem had become all mushy, very.. very weird.

Yeah, I saw something which I was like idk if this is general dirt or if it is bugs so I'll clean it off and see.

Not really, most of my plants is me being like I need a plant but idk what and just going with whatever I found because I didn't really find anything if that makes sense. I wanted the tropic snow and spent a solid month looking for it everywhere, but I luckily found one. The hilarious thing was that I stumbled across the Marianne one like what. 3 weeks later and I was like oof I already have a dieffenbachia but I just had to have it. Right now I'm very like.. if I find something I like I will consider it but yeah?

Dude I wish I was like that, I'm very picky with the plants I like and I have a long ass wishlist, the vast majority of which I've never seen in a plant store in real life. Right now I really want a Ficus Elastica Tineke, which I've actually found it online for around 40 shekels which sounds great but the site has a 100 shekel order minimum and I don't want to buy plants just to get to it. I'm also a huge fan of hoyas, right now I only have a green carnosa and a carnosa krimson princess but I would really like an obovata splash, a curtisii, a methilde, a sp aff burtoniae and a bilobata, just to name a few.

I sort of wished I got into it in a way that made me look up plants and want plants but I'm really not like that and when people talk about plants they like they are very seldom to my liking anyway. I'm not sure if other people think my plants are very like.. I do have a type of plant I appear to like and yeah that's how it is I guess? I might think plants are pretty but I wouldn't want them.
I don't personally understand the appeal with hoyas for example, a lot of people seem to be very into them and they are very?? not for me.

What about you @Alam

I get it. I, for instance, don't really see the appeal of most ferns, monsteras or alocasias. To each their own but to me they are pretty boring. I like to hear what plants other people like though, I find it very interesting to hear what characteristics people appreciate in their plants, variegation, colour, succulence, bloom etc. You seem to like aglaonemas, am I right? Those are cool.
I'm interested to hear what you think about variegated plants. I'm personally very picky about variegation, I like variegation like the hoya krimson princess, syngonium podophyllum albo-variegatum or any splashing really, but most of the time I find it makes the plant look sickly, like with the variegated string of hearts.

I like plants with green colours that appeal to me, and some like patterns but not all. For instance I like the trailing plants I have, but I could never have the golden pothos because it's just.. I can't stand the yellow in it, it's just very unappealing to me for some reason.
Yeah.
I don't really see the appeal with variegation if we are talking the kind like ah it's this species but it has some mutation that change it. I don't like them. I came across a variegated monstera and the only thing I could think was "If I buy this, I could use it to make cuttings and sell them, money.. money..".
It usually looks like some disease or spilt paint imo so I just.. don't. My sister has a variegated ficus benjamina and she really likes it and I respect that, but I would never have it myself.

Man, same, I really dislike the variegation of a golden pothos, it, again, looks very sickly to me. I have some sort of variegated pothos but I don't think it's considered a golden pothos because the variegation is creamy rather than yellow, which I think is pretty cool. Here's a photo of two of the leaves:

That's fair, I'm still not sure how I feel about monstera deliciosa variegata, on one hand I like it, on the other I hate it, and on one foot I think it's absurdly overpriced which makes me hate it.
That's exactly what I'm saying, it looks wrong! That's why I'm so specific about the variegation I like.
We have a ton of variegated ficus benjamina around my house so they're another plant that is boring as fuck to me, I can see why someone might like it though, I guess.
