Hey there I was searching a thread for a bookworm like me cause I need to chat about my new book I'm reading!

What are you currently reading, and how are you liking it?
"The gentleman's guide to vice and virtue" and I am freaking loving it! Everything about it. The protagonists, the story and the mix of political relevant themes and soo funny dialogues. Has anybody read it? I love it so much I could found a fan club.

What was your last read?
"The Diary of Edward the Hamster 1990-1990" really funny in a really dark way

What is your favourite genre?
I mostly read fantasy, dystopias, all kinds of novels, poems, biographies and artsy books. I don't like romantic novels where I get the first kiss on page 250 ( come on I'm not 12 anymore) and I also don't read family dramas or thrillers with a lot of murder.

Who's your favourite author(s)?
Elizabeth Gilbert, Anne Gracie, Frederik Backman, Alessandro Baricco, Christopher Paolini, Marc-Uwe Kling

What is your favourite book? Can you even choose?
No absolutly not

Which book did you buy last?
The great gatsby in a really pretty red gold edition

What is your favourite book quote?
At the moment from the book I'm currently reading:

«“I swear, you would play the coquette with a well-upholstered sofa."
"First, I would not. And second, how handsome is this sofa?”»

@Sharleeen
the characters feel much more developed and exciting, where I felt S&B they were all rather cut and dry. the way we are learning about each persons background as the story progresses also has me wanting to continue reading.

and in general the plot has just grasped me in a way S&B never really did.

- What are you currently reading, and how are you liking it?
I'm currently reading "Ninth House" Leigh Bardugo and "The Book Thief" Markus Zusak.
I enjoy both of them but "Ninth House" was confusing for 100 pages so I got kinda discouraged by that.

- What was your last read?
"We Children from Bahnhof ZOO" Christiane F.

- What are some 2021 releases you are excited about?
I don't really follow what's coming up.

- What is your favourite genre?
Probably criminal books or thriller ones. Fantasy is ok as long as it's not Tolkien-like (Hobbit was so damn boring). I've never read sci-fi or journalism before tho.

- Who's your favourite author(s)?
For now, Aneta Jadowska.

- What is your favourite book? Can you even choose?
I can't now, I started reading books again this year so books I read when I was 10 and books I read when I'm now 18 differ a lot.

- Which book did you buy last?
"The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue"

- What is your favourite book quote?
I need to buy small sticky notes so I can finally remember any quotes but the one I remember right now was from "Ninth House" - “That was what magic did. It revealed the heart of who you'd been before life took away your belief in the possible. It gave back the world all lonely children longed for.”

I'm debating possibly watching the handmaid tale in the mean time, I know the given vibe of them are the same, given that one is based on the other.

Hm.. Everyone already knows The Hunger Games and I really enjoyed it (but as I said everyone knows it so there is no pointing recommed)

My favorite its Battle Royale by Koushun Takami; I dont know if everyone knows this book, but Suzanne Collins was accused of plagiarizing that book when she wrote THG. The author after all polemic said there is no plagiarism so everyone could chill. Its a novel so just one book, but its big. Its brutal, really violent, but its AMAZING, so far one of the best books that I've read. And it was because of that book that the term "Battle royal" commonly used on games originated.... It also have a manga series and two movie live actions (a little bit older) but i never watched it

I also read Maze Runner and Divergent Series; I love the first books from both series; Maze Runner I read in two days and Divergent I read two times really fast but I REALLY HATE THE FINAL FROM BOTH SERIES . I think you already read those but just letting my opinon here.

I realy want to read Legend Series too, people say its a great dystopia...

Thats it! I'm a huge fan of dystopia, but unfontunally i didnt have to much to recomend, sorry

I actually got suggested it several times now, I just have this picture in my head of how the movies are and i painted a picture of the book maybe being tacky? which obviously likely is not the case, based on the fact that they made a movie on it in the first place! Is the books better u think? I will check out Battle royale too for sure!

Im totally new to books btw! Dystopias i read so far is 1984 by George Orwell and i just finished the second book in a series called rød og blå (red and blue) which is based on the handmaids tale!

Yes! Please read the books, the movies are great, have a great design and sound track I like them, but Katniss was whitewashed, and the last two movies had a lot of details (really important details) for the development of the narrative and characters that they decided to exclude when they adapted. An the narrative on the book are really immersive, you gonna feel some character's deaths more in the books than the movies. So yes, read the books , and be prepared haha

One tip wehn you read Battle Royale: write the name of everyone before start to read the book. And stay with a pencil and the list of names next to you, you'll need to risk their names when people stars to die

Ever I didnt liked Divergent and Maze Runner you should take a look on then, but only in the books stay away from the movies THEY ARE SO BAD ADAPTED AND DISAPPOINTG UGH

Oh if you liked 1984 so I think you're going to enjoy Farenheit 451. I never read any of them (I need tbh) but a lot of people relate them and talks really well about!

Oh YES I totally forgot handmaids tale! I started watch the series, but didnt fnish, I really want to read this book! Btw if you like that I'd recommend you The Power by Naomi Alderman and Herland by Charlotte Perkins

I never heard about Red and Blue, I dont think its gonna be lauched in my country soon, but I'll look foward it in english. Btw who worte these books? I'll add on my list here! Btw thank yu for the suggestion!

Oh, why do i feel like i heard that before.. farenheit 451! i need to check it out

I also neither watched maze runner or divergiant, so i might be more posetive on reading those!

Yea it's only in danish currently as far as i know, we are still waiting for the 3rd book i think, so maybe in the future! The author is Nicole Boyle Rødtnes!
Some people say some situations is to close of an adaption of the handmaids tale, but as i haven't watched nor read those yet i can't base an opinion based on that.
