I actually read the short story compilation by the author several times before the main series they wrote. I absolutely LOVE the short story collection, so I was SO excited for the long series. And then... Idk i could not get into it. I was expecting cute+creepy fairytale vibes and got medieval "Ergo Proxy" (which I actually liked better...) The style and aesthetic was still super cool, but it just lost me the longer it went on and I hated the ending. OK, i normally hate endings, but I HATED the ending... like lowkey ruined what I did like of the series for me...

3. "Blame!"
OK I remember someone on vp saying they loved this series, but I forgot who. If you are reading this... I just want to talk ok? I started this series thinking it was interesting but being confused. Halfway through I felt like I started to understand. Then the last part happened and I learned that I knew nothing. It made no sense?!? So, I still don't know how to feel about this series because it just... i don't know what happened even...

Haha i've watched some of both 1. and 2. and I can't disagree

and wow, lucky you haven't had a 3. experience. I think I could name half a dozen other games or books at least that completely confounded me... go find you some streamrot free games or obscure horror anime to experience! Or not, that's understandable too...

and i book i was excited to read was the waves from virginia woolf but idk i am stupid i couldnt get through it i had no idea what was going on

oh and catcher in the rye bc a friend (vp user malum) really hyped that up and then when i was reading it i kept waiting for something to happen and then suddenly the book was already over

LOVE stardew! if it helps, it has a whole modable client and you can add a lot of QoL mods (or just cheat whatever you want basically XD). But yeah, there's definitely a learning curve. Dang now i want to play it again but idk I can find my semi lost old save...

My dad likes bones but I agree honestly. I like the premise but the characters tick me off... of what random episodes I saw, idk if I would say it gets better later, at least to me but Idk if it's a series for me anyway.

It's kinda cringy but I watched young sheldon to pass the time, and it turned out to be a decent show (not amazing but easy to watch and quite fun for a TBBT spin-off).

I wanted to read the books the tv show bones was based on. Turns out they are rather boring and the writing style is unremarkable and plain.

I'm assuming you mean that you read a book and then don't like it? I think I'd feel the same if I read mainstream books too...

is she supposed to have written the books that inspired the show with her in it, thus breaking the 4th wall paradoxically? I remember the character was an author, I just never connected that to meaning the show was based on a book. I believe you, though!

Yes and no.
She's an author in the show and in the later seasons there's an episode where they adapt her books into a movie and brennan is very unhappy with the adaptation when she visits the movie set and then someone gets murdered and brennan investigates the murder on set.

The TV show is only a loose adaptation though afaik.
But I have only read one of the almost 30 books.

1: Five nights at Freddy's. Ive always hated horror but the lore goes so deep and I absolutely love how much love the game, the creator, and (most) of the fandom has for the series.

2. The Uglies TV show. I love the book, its a fantastic coming of age into a technological world that hates individuals. There was SO MUCH POTENTIAL for modern day adaptations to the original source. And the series is so flat. What a letdown.
Also the new PJO series. I will not elaborate

3. LORD OF THE RINGS. I tried, I really tried. But I cannot read it. I cant remember who is who, where is where, and Gandalf never shuts up. But somehow also never actually gives you an answer. It was infuriating and I had to give up

I agree with this. Divergent had great set-up and sort of put an end to the teen dystopian era. Because our main character had less personality and it lost the... I dont know how to say it. Dystopian books worked because of the characters resilience and refusal to conform, and it felt like Tris lost herself. She gave up who she was... to fit in. I will say the 4th book (Four) is better than all 3 Divergent books, because Tobias made a better main character than tris did. But I would never read them or recommend them, and if i find it on a recommendation list I will ignore everything else on the list because it so agressively missed the target IMO

I highly recommend Uglies by Scott westerfield. I sometimes find it in the children's area, but it is just better in every way, but completely different from Hunger games. It is closer to... the giver, maybe? But even that isnt quite right.
