As for the designer issue, as I can see, designers are volunteers, just like the other 'staff' working here. It's a common thing to recruit volunteers for online games and usually, they get game money and/ or items in exchange, which I think is the case here too? The thing is that, if you volunteered to help, you shouldn't ask to be paid, since you were not forced to help and you accepted the conditions. He most likely feels Solovey's style the closest to what he wants VP to be associated with, hence the employment of her. It's a mere personal preference and the others shouldn't be offended, because of it. You all do a wonderful job and I'm amazed by that you make it for free, but you have to accept that he never asked you to do so, it's just an opportunity for everyone who is not hired by him to help the game grow. If you feel it gives you only negative feelings you should probably quit supporting him.
