There's just way too many problems with how things are being handled rn and adding more moderators
2 that the majority of the active userbase does not know
1 that basically seemed not active at all until a few days ago
another that just passed the bootcamp? from my understanding
Not stating those as a "nooo those users are HORRIBLE" as I have literally 0 clue who they are,
And that is a big problem.
When the trust of the people here in the mods is compromised.. It just seems like such a risky choice that might further hurt and make the goal of gaining the users trust in the mods
It just seems like we are yet again regressing with that.
Enforcing such harsh "rules" all of the sudden seems also so not fair, It got worse with time just because the ones that should've taken proper care of things never did, or it was half assed, or happened after so many people complained.
Users complained again and again and again and it IS a problem I HAVE talked about with the admins already, but nothing was done, instead of talking to the people, and listening, there is a wall, and when people decide to act on their own, only then something happens? like..
Why take a shortcut with people that know the "job" instead of investing a bit in people that the community trusts and teach them what they need?
I am certain that there are users here that the community knows, maybe even loves, that could be reliable enough and trusted by the staff and by the userbase
I'm sure that who Clavicle chose will do well with the moderator part but what about the interactions with the community? as far as I remember being here for years by now without taking breaks, the only mod that was actually trying to always interact with people despite the "blue name" was Kofod, until he had his own thing and it stopped.
We have no guarantee that anything will happen with that
Something with the initial team in itself is bad and I believe that the trust in some users that were there for years by now will not recover, ever.
So adding more people when the community is barely alive,
The addition is people that no one knows or chose,
An addition that the people were not aware of nor did any have a say in it,
when the integral issue of the mod team- userbase relationship's problem is the trust..
It's all a nice recipe for disaster in short
Why not do a complete overhaul? Yes it takes time to teach people but lo and behold, with the current activity we're seeing here it is REALLY not that bad if there will be actual new people, because there is not much trouble going around, just the occasional argument here and there
You want actual progress? stop with the shortcuts, give us a bit more credit and respect, and it WILL come back, the whole "oh no blue name" will also disappear and things might get better
