yea we'd say kvart over( quarter past) and not saying what cause we usually just know that already lol idk
exactly ! if someone irl tells me it’s quarter past ten or something ill have trouble understanding

this used to be a pain for me too and I hate when people say it instead of the actual numbers but here's a quick little thing for it
Do people actually say "25 past" and "25 to"? In Swedish, we have a weird way of saying it: "fem i halv" and "fem över halv", which means "five to half" and "five over half". Also, in English (and Chinese), 10.30 is ten thirty, while in Danish and Swedish, 10.30 is halv elleve/halv elva, meaning half eleven, which means the same as the thirty.

Oh my, don't read this if time is confusing to you, this is bound to make it even more confusing.

And this confuses me everyday... So when British people (at least here) say half two, they mean 14:30, wtf? I'm used to half two being 13:30

I have heard people say it but usually it's older people
(like a librarian in the library that was next to my house always said the time like that)

the most common ones are just half past, quarter past, and ig 5+10 past whatever hour

usually people will give you the exact time which is so much better, especially since usually when you're asking for the time the person you're asking is using something digital nowadays... it's a teeny bit jarring when you hear it said differently

I've never heard anyone say half eleven but it's a much better way of saying half past now that I hear it imo

You don't say stuff like "half ten" in English, it's called "half past ten" which means 10.30 (or 22.30). In Danish and Swedish, when someone says "half ten" (in their language), that means 9.30 (or 21.30).

I can't believe you all didn't know that. It's an important difference.
