If you've been here over the years, it's not very unreasonable of people to question Kaj's dignity and ethos

its not like hes ... actively working on anything
referencing when they even managed to fuck up the theme and he was on holiday so no one could contact him to get it fixed

like. no events??? nothing??? its bonkers that this site is still functioning. if lioden, neopets, flightrising, etc didnt do events they would go under immediately. but somehow vp is still up

As for the designer issue, as I can see, designers are volunteers, just like the other 'staff' working here. It's a common thing to recruit volunteers for online games and usually, they get game money and/ or items in exchange, which I think is the case here too? The thing is that, if you volunteered to help, you shouldn't ask to be paid, since you were not forced to help and you accepted the conditions. He most likely feels Solovey's style the closest to what he wants VP to be associated with, hence the employment of her. You all do a wonderful job and I'm amazed by that you make it for free, but you have to accept that he never asked you to do so, it's just an opportunity for everyone who is not hired by him to help the game grow. If you feel it gives you only negative feelings you should probably quit supporting him.

I think many of you been here for such a long time you're obsessed with blaming Kaj. I'm not saying what he is doing is perfect, but we gotta accept that it is his business. This is how he planned the site and it is how he is running it. Again, I'm not against suggestions, but I see absolutely no respect towards him from the community, which is sad, since he must've made something good, after all we joined the site and stayed?  
it's not an obsession with blaming kaj. it's that this man is running a site that is only alive because of the work of designers, who get nothing in return. all the profit he makes on this site comes from designers, and only solovey is paid for it. that's messed up. i don't care how you run a site, even the crappiest of sites still pay their content creators! because that's what you're supposed to do!

we don't 'gotta accept' anything. we are the userbase, and we deserve to be catered to when it is our money that is keeping the site afloat. it would take a minimal amount of funds to buy new features from the (several) coders that have been part of vp. 

it has nothing to do with personal style, or preference for the aesthetic he wants for this site. he wants to keep his costs minimal, and he knows solovey is one of the most popular designers so he only pays her. it is about profit, plain and simple.

why does he deserve respect? what has he done that deserves respect? chatting up underage users? scamming people? refusing to implement any changes, and attacking the en server (and recently abandoning it) when we try to give suggestions of what could be changed?

i love vp, but this attitude that we have to accept how poorly the site is managed is messed up. it's messed up for the designers who put in HOURS of work, it's messed up to the users who spend money, it's messed up for all of us who keep this site alive but get no new content.
