@VP-Etjen
Thanks for tagging me and making me aware of this conversation.
Allow me to shed some light on a few of your questions. The amounts in ‘Statistics’ were already there before I took over, but the total sum of the 3 servers does represent the actual monthly expenses. Why the DE server is set to €500 and EN plus NL to about €1000 is very likely related to the fact that DE has fewer members. However, it is pretty much impossible to link expenses to just one particular server and at the end of a month, I look at the total income versus the total expenses for all 3 servers. For that reason, there will not be a lot of savings if we close one of the servers/languages, but when we do updates, or add a game, or start with the Revamp (mobile friendly), then it will be hard to justify spending that money on a server/language that underperforms.
Another thing already mentioned is that the ‘Statistics’ tracks a month from the 1st to the end and since some of the MCW sometimes start a few days before a new month, those sales are not added to that full month. Therefore, you might see that during one month we hit the ‘expense-targets’ while during another month we didn’t.
In all honesty, I expected that VP would suffer because of gSm’s relaunch, but this month’s sales were better than last month and hopefully, this trend continues. So there is no reason to worry about VP closing,
but that doesn’t mean we’re completely out of the woods.
This month, EN and DE ended up with about the same number of sales. This means that the DE server (with far fewer members than the EN server), did very well. The main difference is that the DE server keeps getting new members who play and buy new credits. Compare that with NL where most players have been around for many years and are very ‘credit-rich’.
This means that two things need to be looked at… One is “finding new players” and two is “how to reduce the credit load”.
A few weeks back we started paying for ads to ‘find new players’ on the EN server, but it has not been that successful so far. VP is not easy to understand and new subscribers often don’t stay very long (some
handy tutorials might help).
It is one thing to be worried about VP’s survival, but it is another thing to actively help with its continuation. If you don’t have the cash the buy the monthly MCW sets, then you can still try and promote VP via YouTube (making testimonials), or on TikTok, and so on. Also…, if anyone wants to make a
VP tutorial video… please let me know. Once we start getting new members on EN, then things will get better.
