Mostly because a lot of people are probably already asleep and will be mad about it in the morning, postponing it gives more people a chance to know about it beforehand 
Postponing it will also result in people who attend work and school will probs not get to do this... 
If the observation is that it is not ideal, then this system will have been tested and it will be different the next times.
