But the discord hype is a double edged sword too. If you can't deliver enough progress it dies and it's really hard to revive it after the first death... and I'm also afraid that it will sort of... spin out of control? HAHA

ooo i know exactly what you mean yes, i've had this with a few games that are stuck on early access for forever (looking at you grave seasons)
better to create the hype when you know its going to be released in +- a year id say ;;

Well... if everything goes like it has been it could be fine to let people test join (like when you then have a re-set for a real launch later) as early as the end of this year.

But right now, this month has been very slow progress. Just a hectic time for everyone irl basically. >.<
So it's hard to tell. And I keep fearing that something will happen so I'm back to square one again.
I guess I have all of the art I've already done finished if that would happen, but still. I feel very like... it's not up to me? XD I wish I could program myself. I just can't learn it, my brain works against me. It's like it picked this one thing to be good at (drawing pixel art) and nothing else sticks.

We're using outdated php on the server side, it's alright (there are some features I miss from newer versions and have to find what's not supported here if update crashes the page, but it's not enough for me to bother with updating it. + it's kinda scary to mess with that, who knows how many pages will straight up stop working bc of deprecated functions)

Frontend is going to use the new framework, I chose Mithril js., It's pretty exotic choice, main reason is that I don't have to install it on the server like React, but otherwise they're pretty similar

Yep, perfect timing haha, I'm still looking into it. Doesn't look like the exploit is public, + we're not that popular, but I'll see how to update it safely

(My understanding of cybersecurity is enough to not create more exploits on vp, but kinda not enough to do hacks like this myself)

Yep, perfect timing haha, I'm still looking into it. Doesn't look like the exploit is public, + we're not that popular, but I'll see how to update it safely

But I don't even know what valuable information anyone could get from a site like this. This site doesn't save paycard information right? That is done through some other client?
So I think the most bas actors could get out of this is email and maybe password? I guess ppl who use the same password on every site might have a tough time...

I dunnu if it's against vp rules to talk about other sites in detail but I can't deal with how toxic gsm 2.0 is XD but maybe that is always gonna be an issue for me now. I just don't have the energy for all the drama. Is that what pixel doll sites are? I've been thinking about it a lot. What I love with it and what I hate. Why I keep coming back.

that rule (no talking abt other sites) was actually a kaj special, but he's gone and so is that rule

from mod perspective, vp is significantly less.... hmmm... unsettling than es and gsm, and we're also a lot more lax in many ways including rules and how we enforce them. but since we are kind of a small community, new users might feel a bit out of place unfortunately. i've also heard the argument that vp is a place of negativity, but i'd argue it's better than basking in toxic positivity

Like theres alot less toxicity here bc ppl simply dont start controverrcies just for entertainment since the site is less active kinda

Also alot of gsm is slowly but surely falling apart due to staff so it might end up coming like a wave if it ever shuts down again

Gsm has been declining since it opened basically XD I think it's wild that people supported it this long with how much they are milking everyone real money. But I guess that's just the power of a whale.

They can literally support a site with only one or two people like that.
