We have two team accounts here: socialmedia & socialmediateam 
We have 4 pages: Tumblr, Twitter, Facebook, & Instagram (you can find the page links on a team account or by hovering over the badge)
Typically we host raffles & WWIB (who wore it best) while occasionally putting out social media based events typically for holidays.
Applications are usually once per year when new team members are needed (this goes for other teams as well).

It's usually recommended to have been active at least a few months before applying. Mostly so that you show you can be active and part of the community and aren't going to leave your team high and dry. 
I had been on the site for a couple months when I joined the News Team back in the day :)
