I haven't heard from me for a long time and I no longer play VP, this doesn't change either. Still, I just want to share some thoughts of mine on things that I repeatedly read on VP, you don't have to agree, it's what it is.
I still regularly see comments from people who think that I cannot earn money from VP, think that I am getting rich here because nobody realizes what a game development actually costs or that it may not be that there are 96 euro credit packages. because minors are going to buy that without their parents' permission.
Let me state that VP is just 100% free to play and that means 100% free advertising for everyone who wants this. There are games that say we are free but then you pay indirectly by looking at annoying banners and advertisements and they resell your data. Something I would never do. I do things my way and credits are the only income from VP. So we really have to deal with that and everything has to be paid for and that remains the case. That person must know whether someone buys credits. It is super fun to collect things in the game and yes, or to have some more functions with manager / DM. Then sometimes spend some real money if you want. You will also get a nicer time in return. But it doesn't have to. It is people their own choice. I also play enough games and also spend money on it. Because I think it's worth it, because I enjoy it, I like the game and I want to support the developers of the game. They also take the risk of putting such a platform online.
Not that it concerns anyone. But the development of VP cost me more than 175,000 euros in investment. And then I am not talking about the costs for hosting etc. purely the development and the updates / maintenance so far. Many don't believe that, but I'm just honest. Many thought that is nonsense, we make our own VP copycat, all those projects have been stopped over the years because it cost a lot more in money and time than they thought. Believe me, you don't just start your own game as VP. If I had known how much time and money it would cost and that it would take me 8 years before I had earned my investment back, I would not have done it. If I had bought shares on any stock exchange, I would have been 10 times richer. But isn't that right? True, coming up with your own game and having it built is much more fun. So I did that.
After 8 years I have finally earned back my investment almost once and I will certainly not feel guilty about it if there will ever be something left for myself, because I know that if the turnover will soon be less and VP will lose again I will also run pay for the costs myself because I want to keep VP online. I also worked hard for years for VP, the first 5 years I spent hours every day on and for VP. I took a big financial risk by making VP, I always thought if there was another update invoice of 30,000 euros, I will earn it back someday and that time is now. I think it is great that it still exists and that so many volunteers remain active. That's what I do it for. But if you think this will make me rich and drink cocktails on holiday, then you are really wrong. First of all, I don't drink alcohol, and I hardly have any time for vacations, if only because I'm ready for some sun.
Keeping VP online and maintaining it costs more than 20,000 euros per year. Then I hear people say yes there are XXX credit sets sold this month so Kaj earns XXX euros this month so all Designers also have to be paid. That is fair. Every time I hear people say designers have to be paid. That is not fair because VP is not just about the designers but about ALL teams. Together they make VP what VP is. And VP is based on volunteers. Then you have to pay everyone. That is fair. But that is impossible. Not really. Plus all the discussions that that generates from who does how much and should get more or less than another, that is not worth it! Then you get into a fight, a war and VP and the nice, generous atmosphere here go straight to the moon. The only reason why VP still exists are the volunteers because if we had to pay everyone I would have pulled the plug long ago, believe me that really can't matter. And precisely because it is voluntary, the contribution you make to a community determines an important part of the atmosphere.
Nobody does things for this community because he / she has to. They do it because they like it.Everyone wants updates, I get it. In the first 5 years of VP we regularly had a lot. That was also because VP was still under construction, it was not finished yet. And on the basis of what people wanted, many things were added or changed. You come to a point that the site is just ready

is. Good enough. And we were 3 years ago. Yes, I can think of a few major updates myself, but the game itself is just fine and it is just finished. You can go on forever, but I don't want that. What we really need are new games. Which are really too expensive, sorry, I'm not going to pay 10,000 euros for the development and integration per mini-game that might be "fun" for you but will really not do anything for the site as a whole. (people don't buy more or less credits for it) so that won't happen. And then some people will say that it can be cheaper, that's right. That is what we have now. But then you have buggy games.
In particular, everything has to be changed again in the technical structure behind the scenes to keep VP safe, and the https protection must come. As some know, we recently had an incident on the English VP that a smart hacker still finds a way to manipulate VP because the code was out of date. So my focus remains the same as in recent years when the updates were mainly about the technology under the hood, and that is no longer wasting money on expensive games or updates that seem fun to players, but ensuring that VP remains technically safe and intact. So I will do this next month. Because it is my intention that this site will remain online for many years to come. Even if the site is no longer profitable.
Everything that I have now will eventually flow back to VP in the future when the sales are less than the costs and maintenance to keep the site afloat. I am not a gosupermodel boss who immediately pulls the plug when things go a little less. I have principles. Plus, I don't live off the profits from VP, the profits from VP are genuine but a very small part of my income with other companies and investments. From a financial point of view, VP is just a side issue for me. Not that this concerns you. But it is what it is. I keep this website online because I know how much it means to some of you and because I WANT that, not because I have to or I would miss out a lot.
You reading this. You don't even know me, have no idea who I am, what I do and how I am. What principles I have or what my private life looks like. Just some opinions based on negative gossip and prejudice from a couple of teenagers who shout. You may have seen a video of me once or seen me on a measurement and said hi, but you don't know me. You have no idea how I feel about VP. That's right, I've had a big mouth on VP often enough, and the players too, whoever gives a big mouth to me can expect him back. Owner of the site or not. Who cares? I dont! But you do so I keep myself absent instead of allowing myself to be provoked by stokers and haters. Better for the atmosphere here. Everyone happy.
My wife, unlike my ex, has nothing to do with VP, so there is no more nagging about that I favor someone. But the fact is, because I and my partner are no longer involved with VP, we are not particularly motivated to invest private money in expensive updates that I see no commercial value for. It's all a lot of hassle, updates. And stress on my side because everything is always going wrong and I don't feel like it anymore dude.
I think VP is a nice website people are enjoying themselves here and it is fun. Much more fun than playing a little on your own on the XBOX. VP is just old-school. I wouldn't make a super-modern, complicated game out of it even though I won the lottery. What VP is and that it works differently than the more modern games, I think is part of VP's charm. It is quiet and uncluttered and just nice to grab. Of course I am also disappointed by the bugs that occasionally occur in the mini-games, but they simply cannot be resolved. Sorry, it's what it is. If you find it too annoying, don't play them, but don't complain again and again. I can also just take them permanently offline. Then there are no more mini-games with bugs. But then there are no more mini games at all. It is what it is.Finally.
Fact remains. Because some here and again did so unkind and dissatisfied to me and I felt that I could never do anything good here, whatever I did, I left here. I have handed over the leadership to the great admins who are doing super well. Best choice ever, peace for me and for you. I love it, I can do my thing and if there is a real problem, I will immediately hear from them and I will make sure that it is resolved as quickly as possible. I have always done that, and I will continue to do so.
Nobody can break my love for VP. Virtual Popstar is my creation, my playground, my child. I am proud of it and the website remains online in the current context

e until the last player quits. Whether that is 3 or 10 years from now is up to you. I ensure that everything continues to work, remains technically up-to-date. You can respect that or not, I don't care. You can also keep talking to me or complaining about the 100 spelling mistakes in this blog post, while enjoying my playground every day. Believe me, it doesn't bother me. I try to make the best of it for everyone, you, the volunteers, and myself and I take responsibility for ensuring that VP can stay online now and in the future, those are my intentions and it will stay that way.
In any case, I think it's super fun if you keep playing VP and you find it a fun game. Enjoy it together. That's what VP is for!
