Important: Anime Designs

Before you comment, there was a lot of misunderstanding between what I said and what people think.
In a nut shell:

I just think now people are categorising styles wrongly :/
Because apparently now
Pixel - Anime/Cartoon
Brush - realistic.

The ORIGINAL point to it, was when people saying they were anime clothing, I thought they meant to the clothing STYLE itself.

-----------------------------
A lot of people I've seen have been commenting on the fact that the designers are 'always' doing anime designs.

May I just point out, that after a lot of complaints, NONE of the current English designers, do anime related designs. Any anime related designs are coming from the Dutch server. I just want to point this out as I've seen people mention it lately.

As well as this, to my knowledge, there has also been people saying that the clothing in the shops 'isn't there style'. You know, the designers are evil minions here to force you to wear clothing we design. We are approachable and you can ask us to design stuff. I'm often putting up request forums as well and doing requests. I even started to do mini design commissions a while back for 500PD that no one was interested in.

I just want you guys to know that you can talk to us, and with the new contest ending next Monday/Tuesday, there will be even more designers that may be willing to take on personal requests.

I'm currently unable to take any due to Claire needing the laptop to do her designs for the final of the contest (Then I'm going on Holiday till the end of August), however in September, I will be starting to take requests.

I'm not sure it's so much anime designs, more anime style; kind of flat and cartoonish. I think people prefer more realistic designs or something from what I've seen on threads

I dont think our designs are anime style :p
Can you get some exampels?

We design in a style that fits the avatars. The only 'anime styled' designs are those based FROM animes but I know for a fact no one on the English server does that any more. Most of the anime styled clothes are from the Dutch.

Our models are pixel, there for they in theory should have pixel clothing, which isn't blurred so you are able to see the finer details in it.

Yeah, I agree with Pug. It's just that the style of clothing is similar. It's not the same clothing, it's just not very different. Although all the designers that are in the competition are good, I would like to have the more different ones chosen.

@Rianne: define 'style if clothing' a bit better. Like always girly/gothic/etc or what?

@pug: those examples are from the Dutch server. We can't tell them what to design, where as most of the 'non anime ones' were done by dollzmania (Expect for Emma's) who also pixel (Purple hair, flower headwear)

I know where this thread stems from, the comments on a budding designers thread, right? Your post sounds a little aggressive like you're angry some users don't like the style on offer currently. There are lots of items I love in the shops by you and other designers :) However I'm sure many people are just excited to have yet another great style of designing becoming available. There's no need to feel like people don't appreciate your work, because we definitely do :) Just looking forward to more variety

I don't know how to describe it, sorry. But the reason why I'm so enthusiastic about some designers is because they're different, the clothes are shiny and they're beautiful.

I'm just a little worried that your personal tastes are affecting your judgement of a good designer. There's nothing wrong with pixel of course, but I know I love the way other designers draw too

No, I'm not angry. I just want people to under stand that the ANIME designs aren't done by the English designers. We pixel in a way that suits the models due to their simplicity. All of the Designers apart from 2 to my knowledge (3 if kittydy gets in) do pixels that suit the site and it just seems like we are being nagged at for doing it. Even though most of the more realistic items that we get, are from DM and are still in pixels.
@your second comment:
Personally, I don't think brush designs look good on pixel models. It's hard to see the define shading and it looks too blurred for them. Where as if others like it, fair to them but I do not.

@Pug
Those aren't realistic, those are just done with a brush so it blurs the shading in more. Emma is frankly one of the only designers I've seen that can perfectly do realistic designs.

It's just like, we see comments like 'oh it would be a better change from all of the anime stuff', and it's like....what, we not good enough for you any more?

The first two designs are stunning, that's what I mean by different.

You mean the fact it's done with a brush, not the design itself then.
We can't change our method of how we feel comfortable with designing.

You see I think you're just being dismissive of other talents because they're not to your tastes, but surely it's about what the users want and not you in particular? We don't want you to change because we do LOVE your designs, but a variety of styles would do no harm

I personally think that the shops have a wide variety of things on offer and from the examples shown, I personally don't get how that's 'anime'. But maybe that's because I don't have an eye for these types of things>_<.
Also, whenever designers post their designs on the forums I've never seen anyone tell them that it's "too anime" looking and to maybe change it up a little.

Your not listening.
I didn't deny her of being a good designer or anyone, it's just the fact when we people see stuff like that, it's down putting when we try just as hard to make everyone happy.

No, the design too. It's more realistic. You don't have to change, it's just that these different designers would allow for more variety.
