you can buy them with real money, get them from selling items to other players, from the wheel of fortune, donations from other players, entering competitions, i think that's all!

credits is the most used currency, the easiest way to get them is to buy them, but like suchomimus said there are a bunch of other ways to get them too! its a bit tricky when youre just starting out and dont have anything to sell/trade yet but not impossible at all
in addition to what was mentioned already its not uncommon to style or draw other users for money if youre into that, and by being top 10 in one of the games by the end of the week you get an item/set prize that you can sell etc etc, im sure theres other things too but thats what i can think of rn

you get promotion points by inviting new players through your promotion link (en.virtualpopstar.com/career/votelink), but they arent used much so i wouldnt worry abt them. thats not to say that they arent useful though, so if you want to invite people,, 

tokens are only used for buying token sets (under 'special offers' in fashion shop), and can be obtained by buying them with real money, they function as a kind of on site stand in for real money, for those who wish to financially support the site
