Yeah, I'm all good with the plot otherwise, just basing it in America didn't sound logical to me... So the "evil" is these zombie-ish creatures? Should we also have a bit more complex villian? Cause I really think it's more interesting to play if we have to also think of the moral and contradictory aspects of our villians...
Maybe there's some big shot basically ruling the anarchy above ground? Mad Max style, you know.

I could dig that. Paired with the fact that i'm guessing the high ups in the bunker aren't super good people either we'll get some neat like, comparisons between the two like idk the characters can see like the similarities in what they know from before in the way the above ground is ruled or something idk?

I agree that at least having it set in like former Los Angeles is like too bad planning to be logical even in a crisis situation, seeing as it's close to the shoreline since the risk for natural disasters would be and considering climate change it might be like, flooded?

Some maps for location reference idk

I like the plot over all though! The only thing i'm really skeptical of would be the lottery thing, it's fine if they randomly pick people, I just feel like it might be a little silly if it ends up being like kind of the hungergames like in that regard? but that might be a lil nitpicky
You're right!

And yeah, I wasn't thinking an actual lottery like in the hunger games. On the outside, the leaders of the bunker may sugarcoat it and tell everyone it's in the hands of a random generator, but in reality, people are being selected based on their contribution level and importance.

I was actually thinking of making a character that has a place on the board (thanks to his father) that is picked out because of his loss in popularity. He doesn't really do much except spread propaganda regarding the vaccine and how "life above ground is days away!". But after 10 years, people have completely lost faith and he can't fathom the fact that he is part of Batch 201.
this is a really neat idea also! I like it

In terms of characters, what are yall thinking? I'm gonna make a guy & a gal cause that's what I'm used to.

The guy will be named Abram Grime and he's the son of former UN secretary general Theodore Grime, a great leader and diplomate that has since passed. Theodore died because of a heart attack in the bunker, Abram was 19 at the time (haven't decided on what to do with his mother yet). Out of pity, Theodore's former coworkers that now make out the leaders of the bunker decide to give him a seat at the "big boys' table", making him the poster boy for their cause and giving him small, pretty much meaningless tasks. He's charismatic like his father but lacks the intelligence, honesty, not to mention the humanitarian outlook on life his father possessed. It's not an easy job keeping people's hopes up, and Abram does his best to distract them from reality with white lies.

If anyone wanted to I'd be glad to figure out some former relationships Abram might have had with some other bunker-folk. I mean, surely he got around (faceclaim is Alfred Enoch <3). I would love for him to have had one (1) serious relationship in his entire life that he ends up ruining (by cheating or something of the likes). A relationship in which the two were good friends before dating and still kind of are, except they pretend to hate each other. You know, exes turned frenemies.

I was thinking of a male in his mid 40s, living outside the bunker. He used to be an environmentalist working for creation of effective hydrogen-based engines, reuseble plastics, and smart materials - all in the realm of (bio)material technology. Needles to say, he got pretty worked up with the fact that he first of wasn't invited inside the bunker and second of couldn't finish his study. As his last mission, he had decided to try to clean up the soil or come up with some sort of solutions for future life's possibilities. Humans, he thought, are not the future of this planet, so he had decided to keep his emotions out of his life and focus on engineering and survival. When he met people, however, he tended to stay away. Not because he didn't want to go to them or didn't miss the warmth and comfort of other humans. He stayed away to keep himself from realising, that he too wanted to live and have offspring.

I was thinking of making a gal who basically looks after things of worth in the ruins of cities to get by. Maybe she stumbles into your male when selling him parts for something his engineering, y'know?

Maybe we can start plotting our big-shot villain. I was thinking they were a leader of a survivalist movement that started out when nuclear-war was approaching about 20 years ago. It turned into a cult where the survivors praise them for predicting the end of the world and choosing them to be their followers that would survive the whole apocalypse. He starts controlling all clean water-sources through his followers etc.

Any thoughts?

I really think he/she should have a good reason to take control over all the water...and what exactly makes his group evil? What are the problems in in, are there some contradicting values or?

I was thinking, if people were chosen to the bunker also based on their genetics (as diverse genepool as possible), mauýbe certain groups of people with hight numbers (e.g. some Asian folks) would be less likely to be selected? And if the bunker solution had been introduced around the beginning of the war, he/she might have started an "anti-racist movement" with the intention to better his/hers opportunities to get in there.

However, if he/she had this kind of background, he/she would probably have more beef with the people in the bunker rather than outside of it. But maybe his/her plan could have something to do with distroying/invading the bunker, and he would try to forcefully militarise every single person alive outside of it? And our characters might not want to be part of a revolutions, but have some other goals (e.g. destroying all of humanity outside the bunker, saving the world, creating new, coexsiting societies...). Our characters might this way face a need for help from their enemy when something goes sideways...

While I adore that idea I thought there was more than just a single bunker in the world.

After all, there was a war. Many countries were likely involved if it's a nuclear war. I think a bunker, maybe even two for each continent is reasonable. Now, some are bigger than others and this one might be the most well-funded one. Maybe Eurasia was "the winner" in the nuclear war, having the most survivors and creating the best bunker, but surely other parts of the world had to have created solutions of their own.

(For my own sake I'm just referring to the villain as a male, but I don't have a preference and would still be fine with having the villain be a woman).
But I like the bad guy being mad at the whole corruption and injustice behind selecting the bunker-folk. That would be a great start to the movement, but as civilization falls, they need something to cling to. They need hope, some kind of order, which I imagine he was eager to create for them. A world in which there is no God because everyone is God. And that if they need guidance, if they need vengeance, if they need someone to trust and someone to seek answers from, then he is the man. Cause he knew all along. Idk, I just need a cult in every RP I do it seems.

Got any ideas for characters yet?

I'm sleepy, but I have two Ideas, I'll keep it really brief though because they aren't super developed yet!

Char A: male, early to mid-twenties, (possibly using cole sprouse as a fc even tho everyone uses him as a fc always lol). Sent out from the bunker. Has severe anger issues, and has gotten in trouble with rules/regulations/law within the bunker more than once. But thanks to having parents who are part of the team of top scientist in the bunker he has managed to get away with it so far. But leading up the starting point he might have done something really bad, and while it's supposed to look like it's random he essentially got to choice of going to cozy ole bunker-jail (I'm just going to assume they have some kind of jailing system because why wouldn't they) or be sent out?

I think it's likely that he'd at least know Abram?

Char B: female, mid-thirties-ish, idk some badass lady who's like a leader of some lil group of people maybe? they stick together, protecting the group is more important than acting ethical, not really on any side ever? But I'm not really sure where to go with this though, just a smol idea

So, I've got Genevive "Jen" Heller sort of figured out. She's pretty young, around 19-22 I'd say. Daughter of a single mother who owned one of the very last yoga-studios to ever exist. Became an orphan soon after the nuclear war and was "adopted" by a faithful follower of our villain who used to be friends with her mother. She quickly realized it was no place for her and escaped them, to an abandoned city, in which she found a goldmine, a.k.a drugs. She started selling them to the few that weren't followers of the villain and started making a lot of money, but drugs aren't exactly easy to come by so she broadened her horizons and started selling whatever she could find. She got herself some regulars and is not living in a different place each night, hunting for things to sell. Oh yeah, faceclaim is Britt Robertson.
