“If I had wanted a dumb blonde, I would’ve dated your mom”, he said quietly, receiving a playful yet quite hard punch on his arm.

“Then it’s settled. I ought to go to math class now, wish me luck. I need it. Desperately”, Lori stood up and brushed some grass of her ripped jeans and headed towards the school. On her way she spotted someone that evoked a strong sense of deja vu. She took a double take.

“Hey, four-eyes, recognize me?” She smiled at the boy she knew as Logan.

(Hope you don’t mind, I figured the two perhaps knew each other at one point. Their parents work together after all. Also, don’t think he had glasses but I’am unable to come up with a good nerd/insult ish nickname at the moment.)

"Uh, what are you doing here?" He asked, puzzled. Although they had gone to the same school at least three times over the past 17 years of his life, he was still surprised to see her in this small a town.

“Apparently, the aliens decided to dump a rock in this hellhole, and you know my parents. They go crazy for that shit.” She sighed loudly, Lori didn’t really know what her parents did for a living. Scientist of some sort, but they would never explain it to her all that well. All she knew was that it meant moving around a lot.

“You’ve got math too?” She chuckled, reminded of the times where she’d force Logan to do he math homework. She wasn’t a bully by any means, just extremely persuasive and unable to take no for an answer. A dictator kind of.

He thought about her comment about the aliens, and realised he had never really questioned what his parents actually did. All he knew was that him and Lori always seemed to find themselves bumping into each other every 5 years or so, and that their parents apparently worked together with some science stuff. He didn't see his dad much, and his mom never spoke of him really.

Logan motioned for them to walk to class together as they spoke. "Why did you move here? I mean, I know about the meteor and stuff, but... Why you too?"

Lori gave Logan a look before replying. 

"There weren't many options besides running away from home, and you know how that went last time.", At the ripe age of 12, Lori had decided that enough was enough and attempted to escape her parents. Needless to say, her attempt failed and she was escorted back to them within 24 hours in a police car. 

"How long have you been here? Have you seen the meteor yet?", She doubted it, Logan seemed way to cautious to try and explore something like that, and it was most likely closed off and guarded. But Lori had her ways.

The last time he saw her at a new school, he didn't think much about it. But this time was the third school they went to at the same time - and it's not exactly like Silent Hollows Highschool was that big a school. Or like Silent Hollows was that big a town.

He entered the classroom, still talking to her before taking a seat.

"No... I hadn't really considered it. Have you?"

All he had been doing since he arrived in this town, was check out if there was a comic store, and after finding it, spent fifty dollars on comics, followed by holing himself up in his room reading comics until his first day at the school today.

Until now, he had never thought much about his dad's job, since he was hardly ever home. He had tried asking about it a few times when he was younger, but had been shut down every time, so he stopped bothering.

Maybe Lori was right though. Maybe it was time for him to get to know his dad a little better...

"Could I come?" He asked. He knew he had agreed to meet up with the guys, but he could always do that later. This seemed like a once in a lifetime opportunity.

ye, i like that idea! also, we should probably come up with a reason for why they are the only ones affected... maybe they have some sort of unknown connection from when they were kids or something?
