"I didn't want her getting hurt.. plus you were on the other team." he smiled slightly, and shrugged. he followed her into the little cupboard, gulping. just praying she wouldn't ask questions.

evangeline glanced around the class. no one was even making a remote effort. crap. now she was going to look like even more of a teacher's pet. she ran a hand through her pony tail, sticking her hand up feebly as he began to call out how many instruments they thought were in it. she quickly dropped her hand though, when no-one else actually had their hand up.

However before she could get answers out of him the teacher came in and shouted at them both, forcing them out and back onto the benches with their teams - as far apart as possible.

Adam felt disappointed in the class, no one seemed to care. Meaning they wouldn't pass. He understood people thought music was a pointless class but he didn't understand why no one gave it a shot. He rattled off everything in the song before finally saying, "I see that the majority of you aren't bothered by the practice exam tomorrow. So, why don't you have the class off. If you want to stay for the revision session, stay, if not you all know where the door is."

gustav hated this, he didn't want to be with tamsin, but he had no choice. he needed a distraction from bryony, and he needed for tamsin to not tell on him for keeping a hold of the drugs. it wasn't as if he was going to take them. he shimmied out of the cupboard and took a seat at the opposite end of the bench to tamsin, glad to be away from her. he glanced at bryony - the disappointment and heartbreak spread in her eyes making gustav feel oh so guilty.

evangeline sighed and ran a hand through her hair. it would come across as him being a bad teacher, which in turn made her feel bad for him. she stood up when everyone else did and put her things away, though hung around a little. of course she was going to stay for the revision session. she genuinely wan't to ace this exam and she couldn't do it without his help, that was for sure. and now he had her undivided attention, what with not having to run back to james.

Bryony stared at Gustav, disgusted by him. She had never felt so revolted by one person before in her life. Even more so then Thomas. She rose to her feet and excused herself from the gym, leaving the hall briskly. She stood in the empty corridor and tried to break properly, hands clenched. The tears were close but she held them back as much as possible.

Adam turned away from the pupils, hearing the doors swing open and close as people left. He was feeling upset, like he was a dreadful teacher. He picked up his mug of cold coffee and finished it off. Turning back round he saw Evangeline had stayed and a small smile appeared on his lips, "well at least someone stayed." he laughed a little.

evangeline gingerly approached him, before smiling when he turned around, and putting her arms around his waist, hugging him. "you're a fantastic teacher, adam, the class is just full of shits. they don't appreciate you. which is a shame, because they could learn a lot from you." she shrugged, messing about with the hem of his shirt, trying not to mumble on for too long and make herself seem like an idiot.

Bryony looked up at him when she felt his touch, "no I get it, I do, you pick something like that." she put her hand on his arm to push him away but just touching him made her remember the way he made her feel, the warm cosy butterfly like feelings he caused. "explain then.. please.." she looked into his eyes, searching for some sort of truth. The situation was confusing before but with Tamsin in the mix she could barely believe it.

Adam held onto her, she was definitely his rock and he refused to lose her. "I just know how useless I'm going to feel when I mark their papers and they scrape by if best." he let out a long sigh, shaking his head, "but why should I worry for them? at least I know you wrote everything done but chickened out of saying." he smiled cheekily, kissing her nose.

I dunno what I would do without you." she realised she had said that before, which made her feel like a bit of fool. she grinned and shrugged, her cheeks a little pink. "I didn't want to look like a teacher's pet or anything.." she laughed.

Adam loved it when every time she said it, it made him feel less useless. "you know something Evangeline, I don't know what I would do without you either." he picked her up in his arms, carrying her over to the cd player and sitting himself down cross legged, letting her rest on the seat his legs provided. "however, teachers pet needs to do one more song for revision because as much as I love you, I don't want to get in the way of you passing."

evangeline smiled brightly, feeling a little proud of herself. "hmm, well it's a good job we don't have to go without each other then isn't it?" she kissed his cheek once she was picked up, settling herself in the little gap of his crossed legs. she pouted slightly and let out a sigh, but he was right. "I guess so. as long as it's out of love though." she picked up her notebook and pen again, tentatively biting on the end of it.

evangeline glanced up at him, smiling innocently. she had no idea what effect she had on him. she cleared her throat and grinned when he played the music, dancing from side to side happily to the beat, before writing down all that she knew quickly. this was definitely her favourite kind of exam. music was her passion, for sure.

Bryony nodded her head a little, not quite sure what to say. They finally reached her room and she opened the door, letting him back in before shutting it. She couldn't face the idea of his room anymore, not knowing he had been close with Tamsin recently. She sat herself down on the edge of her bed, "so what do we do Gus" she paused, realising she had used the shortened version of his name, "gustav." she added. The shortened version was to friendly, and right now she wasn't sure what they were.

Adam watched her with admiration, nodding his head lightly with every correct answer she wrote down. Once she had finished writing he stopped the music and smiled. "You got everything and I mean everything." he kissed her cheek, "I am so proud of you. Plus, I hope this proves you have no reason to be worried for this exam. Just look at how perfectly you did there from hearing the song once. Not even needing it repeated three times!"

gustav went in and took off his trainers, running his hands through his hair before sitting in the chair at the desk. he shrugged his shoulders,looking right into her eyes. "what is there to do? there isn't much left of this year.. do we carry on as if we hate each other? I might not even be here next year, bryony. I don't just want to leave you with a child."

evangeline turned her head to him, grinning. "are you serious? wow.." she drew a little smiley face on her piece of paper, resting her hands in her lap. "this is the only exam i'm kind of confident for. before my dad became this crazed businessman, he used to take me to small bars and stuff, i'd sit on his shoulders, and we would listen to music. live music is the best. instruments, they're like a piece of work."

Bryony stared at him, he was leaving. He was running off back home after everything he had said. She tried to stomach it, nodded her head a little and looked down at her trainers. Untying the laces with shaking hands. "if you aren't going to be here then you are leaving me with a child. which gives me a real reason to hate you." she let the shoes fall to the floor before lying back on her bed so she didn't have to make eye contact with him. "you have every reason in the world to stay away from me, so we are sorted. we can go about our lives as if we never knew each other, never cared. Maybe Tamsin will hold onto you all the way back to France." with every word she was saying she could feel her heart breaking, crumbling, becoming incomplete.

Adam was in awe as she spoke, he lived for live music. Every word she was saying he could connect to. "I have always preferred live music over pre-recorded things. Because it is never as real. Doesn't have the fight that a live performance does." he looked down into her eyes, god she was perfect. It was impossible for her to be a human, more an angel sent down by the musicians above for her to admire.

"we should go to a gig sometime. just the two of us. somewhere downtown, I know there's always smaller jazz bands playing, it's really cool. i've always wanted to go." she giggled and took a hold of his hand. "or it could be us performing live instead, soon. maybe, if that's what happens. I dunno. I don't want to go all mainstream and weird though." she shrugged, thinking about it.
