"how did your evening go anyway? the creepy guy get you into that tribe?"

Connor had always wondered what heaven and hell would be like, though there was doubt his kind would make it to either but it wasn't like he could ask any of his ancestors because they had no way of communicating with the dead. "maybe you'll get a palace of your own from him, would save us a fortunate on a mortgage," he teased her hoping to lighten the mood after the jug incident. "this dinner is delicious by the way, thank you." he added, remembering his manners before he gobbled away at his food at lightening speed.

Gabbie grinned wide, the thought of having her own palace hadn't even crossed her mind but maybe it was a possibility. She could be the ruler of earth, in between heaven and hell, she could be the middle ground. "Hey I thought you was working in building us our own love cabin?" She teased, he was so good at detecting when her mood had dropped and his sense of humour was the same as hers. She ate hers at a slower speed, making sure to not make a mess and delicately cutting st everything, eating it slowly. Connor looked like he was having the time of his life. "You're welcome, it's just something I cook now and again."

Connor watched as her mind wondered off somewhere else and he took the time to eat more of his dinner, clearing the plate in a matter of minutes while she was still slowly slicing her food apart and eating in small sections. "well of course but hey if you can get a free palace I wouldn't exactly be disappointed," he laughed before finishing the remaining bits of food and laying his cutlery down neatly. "I look forward to having it again," he smiled watching her as she ate for a moment. "perhaps tomorrow we could find somewhere safe for you to experiment and see if any other powers show face." he suggested.

Gabbie finally finished off her dinner and as soon as it was done, she was on her feet again and she went into housewife mode, washing the plates up until they were sparkling and dried them too, wiping down the surface once she was done so everywhere was spotless. "That's very true, I wouldn't grumble at a free palace." She dried her hands off on the tea towel and then went over to him, sitting herself on his lap but not facing him, looking down at her hands. "I'm scared. I don't want to be this powerful. I thought it might make me feel better but it's really scary having no control." She admitted.

Connor had started to rise from his seat to clean the dishes but she was off like a rocket and before he could even protest she was scrubbing away. Deciding this wasn't a battle worth fighting he sat back down and watched as she worked, forcing himself to keep his gaze above her waist as he didn't want to be too disrespectful in such a holy home. As she sat back down he ran his fingers across her cheek to comfort her, tilting her head up to meet his gaze once she was done speaking, "No wonder you are scared Gabbie, you have no idea what you are capable of but what I know is that you will be able to control your powers. It might take some time and practice but I know you will master them."

Gabbie felt the warmth from his fingers and it was so soothing, and it made her heart beat a little faster as he lifted her chin and she gazed into his eyes. He was so full of wisdom at such a young age and it just made her feel like such an idiot, because she hardly knew anything about herself, let alone the big scary world outside, maybe it would have been better if she stayed dumb and didn't know all of this. "But what if it only gets stronger? I don't want to hurt people, that's not me. And I don't want to be destructive, that's not the angel way." But then it hit her. She wasn't even a real angel, not really, she was a freaky hybrid.

You can make these powers what you want them to be, they don't have to define you." He pressed a kiss against her nose before stroking her cheek again, "Gabbie babe you don't have to fit into some rules and regulations for what an angel needs to be, you can be the way you want to be. Fuck everyone else because it's what you want that matters." he whispered the last part, pressing his lips against hers gently.

And now everything is fucked up and I don't even know what I want to do with my life any more." She laughed quietly, leaning forward and nudging her head in his shoulder, closing her eyes for a second. "It's like the world is really against me and you being a thing."

As she moved forward into him he moved his hand away from her cheek so that he could wrap them around her body and hold her in a hug. Allowing one hand to gently stroke through her hair, "yet here we are - together." he whispered to her as they sat still in the moment for a few minutes.

Gabbie's mum had come down the stairs to get a glass of water but as she entered the kitchen she saw her daughter wrapped up in Connors arms and for just a moment she thought it was sweet, "Goodness me can you at least have the decency not to fornicate in my kitchen." she said, moving to the sink to pour herself a fresh glass of water.

"I still can't believe we're soul mates sometimes, the fact that we have been neighbours for so many years and our paths have never crossed until now.." her voice was soft while she spoke but their moment was ruined by her mother and she sat back up, rolling her eyes. "Sorry mother, I'll keep it to my bedroom from now on." She just wanted to see what her mothers reaction would be.

Gabbie's mum was about sick with her daughters response and whipped around to look at her, "you will do no such thing, you might think you are some sort of gift on this earth but you aren't. So get off your high horse and show your own mother some respect." and with that she left to go back to her own room.

Connor laughed awkwardly once her mother had left the room, "jeez that was awkward." he laughed, looking back into Gabbie's eyes, "hope she isn't expecting me to sleep on the floor because I'm getting use to having a spooning partner."

Gabbie just didn't have that respect for her mother now, not after how she had treated her, sending her off to that nunnery that was more like a cult. "Connor is staying over tonight by the way, he has no where else to go." But her mother had already walked off and she just shrugged turning her head to Connor. "She will be asleep soon and then we can spoon for days on end if you really want to." She grinned up at him.

I wonder what that could have done for us." he spoke soft, clearly in deep thought as he considered this as a possibility. "but then again I have enjoyed getting close to you these last few days and I wouldn't have traded them for the world."

She laughed, but she did wonder. would their soul mate connection be as romantic? Or would it have stayed as a platonic friendship and nothing more. She nodded her head slowly, looking up at him. "I couldn't agree more. When we were sitting by that lake at midnight and we both realised.. I haven't been able to stop thinking about it since."

What if they had met as adolescents when they were going through hormonal bursts, he at that point had been a very horny monster and he was thankful to have outgrown that phase. "we could have terrorised the neighbourhood together." he said, flashing her a small smile. "that moment was just perfection. I've never felt so close and calm with someone as I do with you and when we realised what it all meant.. it was just so magical." he let his thumb rub against her cheek again before going in for a kiss, holding her close against him so the moment lasted longer.
