Living legend

Formally known as 'The Orphaned One' but due to the censors on gSm I had to change it as it considered 'Witch' as 'Bitch' but...bleh.

Re-posting this as it was rather popular when I was posting it as a magazine.
If the font messes up, that's because I'm copying it straight from the word document that I saved it in!

Just a note: This cover is 2 years old. So ignore any anatomy faults.

Book 1.

The midnight clock struck as the stars shun within the night sky. There was the noise of wings flapping within the sky as many owls had come to deliver. Deliver a very special letter that would change the life of a single child for the rest of their lives. An owl perched on the roof of an old building. It was covered in old vines that were blooming within the moonlight. The feathered bird scratched at the roof with its small talons as is chirped while turning its head to scan around the area. Its head moved back and forth quickly before dropping down off the roof onto a small moss covered ledge. It tried to peer into the window, but dust and cobwebs had stopped his view.

His eyes saddened slightly as he tried to push the large glass window open, avoiding the large hinges from making noise. His little beak pushed its way into a tiny hole within the gap of the windows and slowly he pushed forward, making the window swing open, the hinges creaked loudly as the wind flies through the window, pushing it harder, forcing it into the walls. The owl flinched and flapped his wings slightly while buffing up his chest feathers. This owl was on a mission. He carried on into the room, step by step, not making a single sound and silently, he flew over to a table that was within the room. He placed the letter onto the table and fluffed up his feathers. A small noise seeps out of under a pile of clothing and patched work blankets. The room itself was small and tightly packed, the floor was covered with bits of scrap food, ripped clothing as well as bits of paper that had scribbles on them.

The owl hopped off the table and moved its way over to the pieces of scrap paper and glanced down at them. Images of horses, stars and hearts, but one piece of paper didn't quite seem like the rest. It was covered in words, and an image of a dragon that seemed to be made of fire. Taking this certain piece of paper within his beak, he jumped back onto the table where his letter sat firm and looked towards the heaped pile of blankets and clothing then made his way over to the window.

"Don't go...Please..."

He turned his head to the pile of clothing. A small hand slithered its way out of the pile, almost like a snake slithering across the ground after its prey as the pile of clothing started to shift and tumble off the figure. A small girl lay sleeping on top of a broken bed; springs poking out at the sides as well as the mattress itself were torn and old. Long blonde hair fell off the side of the bed, it was dirty, untidy, yet it had a pure sense to it as it fells gracefully towards the floor. The owl tilted its head and moved over to the girl a bit while tilting his head.

So this is the girl...

He fluttered his wings while picking up the scrap paper that he had left on the table, he turned his head yet again to look at the girl before making his way back to the moss covered window-sill and waited. He turned his head backwards to get a last look at the moon before leaving to return home.

The night soon passed as the sun slowly rose to the skies. The sun shone brightly as the sounds of the chirping birds was heard from miles away as they chattered and greeted each other. The rays of the sun slowly crept into the room of the young girl as a large screeching voice was heard from outside her room.

'Hana! Get up now dear! It's time to eat!'

Ugh, morning so soon? I was having such a nice dream.

The figure rose her head from the 'pillow' and slowly placed her hand onto the side of her head, letting out a large yawn while keeping her eyes closed. Placing her hands back onto the bed, her green eyes looked around the room blinking every 10 seconds as she allowed her vision to focus. Yawning again, she shifted her body to allow her legs to dangle off the sides of the bed and place her small foot onto the cold wooden floor beneath her. Tapping her foot three times, she swung her body backwards then using the momentum, pushed herself off the bed with a jump, landing herself in the middle of the small room.

"A new record I think. Hana Dan, the jumping master of AppleStreet!"

She smiled as she swung herself around, her dirty blonde hair flowing along with her, but she stopped as something caught her attention. The letter. She tilted her head to the left as she walked over to the table, moving her hand by her mouth and bites on her finger softly.

I don't remember that being there...

"Hog...Warts?"

She stared down at the letter and raised an eyebrow. She shook her head slightly and let out a small sigh before placing it back onto the table. This isn't what she wanted, she glanced back down to the letter before shrugging and picking up a pair of old black jeans off the floor as well as a plain black vest. Getting unchanged, she kept looking back at the letter, wondering, thinking, is it real, or is it some kind of joke?

This letter, something was strange about it. Leaving it on table, she turned to leave the room, but something stood in her way. A white owl had perched itself on an old bird that she kept within her room for decoration.

"Hm? How did you get in here...and shouldn't you be sleeping?"

She questioned the owl both out loud and within her head as it just twisted its head to watch her mumble to herself. Taking two steps closer to the end of the stand, he spreads his large wings and fluttered them to raise himself off the stand by an inch before landing back down gently. Hana looked back at the letter that had now fallen onto the table and started to pace herself back to it, crouching down to take it within her hand, but before she could, the owl flew over like a racing dart and snatched the letter off the floor before she could even blink. She stared in amazement as the owl went back and sat himself back onto the stand.

He's a fast little fellow...

"So this isn't some joke is it?...Hogwarts is...real?"

The owl nodded in unison to what she was saying then dropped the letter down onto the table below the stand. Walking back over to the stand, she watched the owl carefully as she picked up the letter, in case he tried to dart off again, but he was calm as anything not a feather out of place. She reopened the letter and mutters to herself over and over what the letter had to say;

"Dear Miss. Dan,

We are pleased to inform you that you have been accepted at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Please find enclosed a list of all necessary books and equipment.
Term begins on September 1. We await your owl by no later than July 31.

Yours sincerely,

Minerva McGonagall
Deputy Headmistress"

She looked back over to the owl shrugged, crouched down and slide a drawer open within the table that the owl was standing on. Hana took out a few sheets of paper and a pen. Closing the drawer, she placed the paper next to the bird stand and started to write. Once finishing one piece of paper, she handed it to the owl.

"Take this to Hogwarts."

The owl watched as she started to write yet another letter, but this one though had little drawings within it like hearts and stars. Hana smiles with a large grin as she sealed the letter within a small brown envelope and looked at the owl.

"Could you...deliver this as well for me?"

The owl's eyes showed curiousness, but only nodded to her and took the second letter within its beak. Hana's large smile shrunk as the owl flapped its wings and took out, disappearing out of the window to its two destinations. Passing her way over to the window, she placed her elbows onto the moss covered ledge and watched it fly, swaying left to right within the sky before disappearing within the horizon.
