I pictured that ages ago, when the town was still pretty - perhaps with a prettier name, even - among the rich families there was this guy who discovered a spell book in his attic. It was sealed away for obvious reasons, and out of curiosity he experimented with it. At first it was only experiments, but he came across a forbidden spell that would unlock the bounds between alternate universes. He used it, summoning all kinds of magical creatures from the other realm into the world, in hope of building a kingdom of his own, with some of the members from other well-established, wealthy families in the town forming a clan of wizards under his leading. It quickly went out of control - the creatures were not happy about being summoned, obviously, as they all had families on their own back home. They were also very intelligent creatures among those he summoned, so controlling them was not at all easy - centaurs for example, were known to be very intelligent haha. The creatures rebelled and it was human vs. them - though there are exceptions here and there and both sides suffered great loss of lives. It was the wizard's daughter who decided to put an end to this. She found a spell that her father had been working on - but had yet to be finished. It was supposed to, if succeeds in its purpose, wipe the creatures away completely. ( As in having them vanished entirely, instead of sending them back. ). It failed, obviously as it wiped all the humans away instead, leaving the caster ( the daughter herself ) as the only survival. The creatures remained, their powers significantly reduced, leaving them pretty much useless. Most of them gone into hiding and she ran away. I don't know whether she should return. Idk. What do you guys think? c:

Oh and the spell weakens after a hundred years. Upon reaching the hundredth year the creatures were slowly regaining their strengths as the curse was slowly lifted - hence the killings etc. Perhaps it was revenge on the humans. haha. And the people who gained odd memories were actually people who were wiped away back then and are reincarnated - this is them regaining the memories from their past life.
