Gate Nineteen, an entertainment business conducted by one of the most notorious gangs running freely amok in Tokyo.
Their intention was anarchy; an attempt of an idea that had been thoroughly planned out and slept on before actually commencing. But it was all for kicks, finding childish amusement in corrupting whatever they could lay their hands on; never had they expected things to escalate from there on out. Now months and years later their casino was now well-known around the world, best of the best and completely top of its class. People from all over come to visit, perhaps stay for a night or two, and gamble their money away—determined to momentarily forget the corrupted world and its society residing from beyond the superficial sanctuary; however, what goes on within it is a completely different story.
The casino isn’t merely used for cheating the rich and pure-minded from their money, nor was it used for entertainment purposes as previously established. It was built to fulfil conniving deeds in the most unsuspecting areas around the casino, premeditated murders in conference rooms, torture chambers found hidden securely under the building, and many more. The naïve and innocent, Animus, would go on with their gambling; not even having the slightest clue they were being cheated out of their money, to the very last cent, but always wanting to come back for more of what the casino offered. And the gang that runs the casino, Vitiosus, would do everything and anything to make sure it stayed this way, if not slowly-but-surely manipulating the Animus minds in joining the gang.
The gang is no stranger to the likes of drug and human trafficking. The latter is especially considered taboo, but here, in this world, it is a topic easily shrugged off—almost as if it was a daily topic for one to hear. After all, how else is the casino itself going to remain properly cared for and maintained? That’s where, loosely used, slaves come in. They are paid, of course, except at minimal wage that is barely exempt from being deemed illegal. Most of the individuals that have succumbed to this lifestyle have inadvertently chosen it, however. They are the ones that have fallen prey to the likes of loan sharks and robber barons: borrowing large sums of money until they fall into inevitable debt.
Tokyo is notorious for its amplifying levels of gang violence and offenses. However, most are left completely unaware of this because everything is handled underground; out of site from any possible witnesses. As such, only the courageous who dare to venture into the life-threatening territory of any gang would be horribly surprised at the underlying situation behind closed doors. In the past five years, crime has only skyrocketed since the fame of the casino has risen. Officials are well aware, of course, but none dare to actually take a step forward and solve the problem. Lives are always at stake, and blackmail is all too common. Police officers can be found betraying the government and wiping a gang’s infamy clean.
And so you have the good and bad of the two; one gang running the entire scene, the riches being rigged and cheated out of their own money. But, there are always the individuals, Indomitus, the ones who dare to test the mechanics of slot machines and even mind-games the dealers casually bring upon an individual player. One can consider them to be more akin to vigilantes, but that would be a terrible generalization, to say the least. They work for no one and just like the used-to-be delinquents, who now own the casino, they found entertainment in cheating a whole casino out of their worth, but after many failed attempts in doing so with this one, it became more than just cheating the whole casino, but one ultimate goal, to which they unfortunately had to share with the authorities and investigators;
To shut Gate Nineteen down.
