And also i think that you would have to pay something to open your own shop, so that it would be a serious thing :)

But the question of how the official designers fit into all this is a tough one. MB didn't have "official" designers, they just had users who opened personal shops and users who created enough at once for a themed shop update. I would say official designers should be the only ones who can see their designs in the main shop and everyone else has to pay fees to submit theirs to personal shops, but then VP would miss out on quality designs from talented but under-funded users. Honestly though, I could see VP choosing the revenue from personal shop fees outweighing community interest in quality item submissions. Especially since they can always dump the responsibility of funding up-and-coming designers on the community, maybe hold more contests so the winners can afford to have their designs submitted.

I'm sure I'm not the only one who sees this site is run more as a capitalist venture than a community service.
