idk the whole concept of dm is for it to be a mystery loot box, if it was visible we could just abolish dm entirely n release it in the shop instead
id think the real issue w dm isn't that you dont know what the weekly surprise is going to be, but that the weekly surprise is the only real advantage to investing in manager and dm? like theres no way anyone has ever thought woa i really want yellow posts im gonna buy dm
Some people do though? Like the whole point of buying a membership with perks is that you can flex on others and show them what you have. Isn't that why people spend real life money on pixels?
i think the point of buying a membership with perks is to get perks, and the motivation to spend real life money on pixels to obtain said pixels?
but uhm. sure, maybe theres people like that around too who knows

but this would still make dm utterly pointless i dont understand im sorry

I mean in the sense that when you buy things you know what you are getting. People don't usually spend money on things when they don't know what they are getting and those who do are few, hence why there are much less people buying DM than there would have been if it was visible

yea i just dont understand how this makes sense, the surprise sets is what dm is, its the only real appeal to it. if you take away the surprise, then sure people would buy the sets, if they wanted them, but why would they be released as dm and not as a time limited shop update? it would essentially be the same thing.
like if your argument was, lets remove dm and release the sets somewhere else, id understand

im sure youre right that on some weeks, more people would buy dm, but i wouldnt underestimate how many are driven to buy cuz they dont want to miss out. if you know whats coming, wouldnt you save your cr for the ones you really, really like? some sets have a much wider appeal than others, so the numbers would likely vary a lot, and im not sure the total would be higher. maybe it would be idk, thats hard to predict lol but the amount of people who buy dm now is not low by any means

i prefer to get a surprise + i wish we could get rid of bonus cuz we rarely get one (and then making it cheaper, like tb to when it cost 100cr)

I don't want give much expectation on bonus or anything since DM buyers are low 😭

Need more priority on improvement DM benefit first

that is also why I wanted to get rid of the bonus since we are so low in sets in general.
they only went from 100cr up to 125cr back then bc they added the bonus.

It makes sense in the sense that DM is dying. And many other games have a visible perk while still releasing items in shops etc, and they are still doing well.

The reason why people find DM to be a waste of money is because if they don't like the set they can always sell it but then why buy something you're always going to sell, instead of spending it on something you actually want.

What I'm trying to say is that people want to buy DM and feel like they benefit from buying it.

dm is like a mystery box you can choose to buy each week, showing the sets beforehand defeats the purpose of dm, like aske said, it would just make it equal to a shop set

you can always choose not to buy dm and only seek the sets you like from other users or you can sell the set if you dont like/plan on using it

also, not knowing what you will get can be exciting for some people, its like gambling

you might get something you wont use much or something that will be special or expensive (for example a couple of encrede dm sets were sold for over 1k cr)

dm is dying what does that mean
the amount of people buying dm has been quite consistent relative to the size of the active userbase, the reason fewer people have dm now is simply that there are fewer people here in total. but its still around 60-70 people each week so the engagement is actually very high. compared to pretty much any other releases, even the completely free and effortless ones

i mean it is a high investment and a gamble, if you rarely like them and its not worth the risk to you then thats entirely fair. but some sets will go for much higher than the cost of dm, like yea you can end up loosing cr but you can also end up earning much more than you invested. like thats not a rare thing at all, dm sets are really high quality

I think that there is no reason to continue this discussion since Whydoiexist already so kindly explained that it would be impossible with the shortage of sets but I was simply giving my thoughts as to what I believe would better the experience on VP for the players.

If not a full reveal why not a sneak peak like just showing one item or maybe the silhouette of the set. The DM speculation forum does only trend on Friday so the tiny "reveal" can happen on there, so it doesn't have to be anything official that needs coding?

I think showing the silhouette could be fun, but as mentioned here already, it's probably not going to work as very often we don't know which set will be used for DM until an hour or so before it goes out, and I don't think many players would have time to see the sneak peak before it's sent out
