idea // way to earn gold w/out paying
Account deleted

i play(ed) an online game called smallworlds and have never spent a dime on the game, but i have gold (equivalent to credits on here). to get the gold, you do offers. offers are different tasks from different companies such as surveys and downloading apps which gives you gold, gives the website a cut of the money because the different tasks are funded by these different companies to be put on the page.

so for example, i just did an offer on smallworlds that required me to download an app and i did it through peanutlabs (one of the offer hosts). so i downloaded the app, earned gold, smallworlds got a cut of the money that was made by me doing the offer.

so offers would benefit vp and the individual user that doesn't want to put their own money into the game
i remember posting about this when the game first started and i just think there needs to be a way to earn credits w/out paying for them.

thoughts? i know it won't make sense to many people... but yeah.

I mean, the problem with those kinds of offers is that they only work 20 - 30% of the time, not to mention that there's all of those "just give us all of your personal information, we promise we won't give you any spam mails (considering you don't see "YOU WON!!!!" mails as spam), or any creepy calls where we will just call you and then nobody will say anything."

Do people actually put real information on offers? I've been doing offers since I was 11 and I used fake addresses, made an email just for offers, etc. The website needs some form income and this would benefit the user as well.
The downloading app ones aren't too bad either. The harder it is, the more money you get and the less chance of it working.

Well some people do? Not everyone know exactly how the internet works - there are still people out there with around 10 toolbars, yahoo as their search engine and several viruses.
And I mean, if little Tommy who's 10 years old writes all of his info in one of those offers, then it's not not really his fault to be fair? And we can't really make forums and such saying everyone should write fake info, since it could result in the whole thing being taken down again.
I mean it's not like I've not tried doing something like downloading an app to get some in-game money before where it has worked, but I feel like it doesn't work 2/3 times.
In general I'd say all those offers are known for barely ever working.

On a side note it's not like I would see anything wrong with just having it on the site (I mean it's your own choice whether you want to use it or not), but little Tommy's parent's might ban him from the internet when he gets mail about "hot girls" because he wrote his real information in a offer.

Well, usually on the page it asks if you are sixteen or older, so if Tommy isn't one of those wiser ten year olds, he'd probably click no and then get redirected to the main page. Offers actually work 3/4 of the time for me, but it takes a while to know how to do them. I just think it would be a good idea for those who don't want to spend real money on a game.

Really? I've never seen one of those, but I guess that's just a matter of making sure there will be then.
I guess it depends a lot on the offers, sadly I don't think Kaj would be able to choose which offers he would want on the site (not that he would even if he could *cough*), so it'd be all or none.
Well it definitely is, but I must admit that I'd way rather have other ways to earn credits. I mean it wasn't too hard to get on the top 10's before all the new people got here, and you can still get credits from the WoF. To be fair that's a lot of chances to get "premium" currency compared to other sites.
However I personally wish there would be some monthly dress up(/drawing/writing contests), not necessarily from the NT, like there is on a lot of avatar sites. Then the winner could get some credits (maybe the runner-ups would get some too), and maybe a small space on the front page. Like this, this and this.
Well that was kinda off track, but that could be an alternative on how to earn free credits perhaps?

I agree, but the NT and ET have done dress up, writing and drawing contests and nobody was really interested. I don't think contests can be the only source of credits outside of paying for them because only ~three people can win and the amount would be very insignificant. I would like for there to be some kind of themed events that everyone can be involved in though, but that's kind of besides the point of this thread.
Offers bring income into the site and allows the presence of people on the site to actually generate real money. Very few people bring money into this server.

((There should also be ads as well, especially on the forum.))

Agreed, but if you could win credits (as given by Kaj to the team avatar), maybe more people would join? I think it depends on the theme too, if it's a rather simple theme a lot of people usually join.
It's not a bad idea with the offers, but I just feel like it would cause a lot of people problems.

I think ads would be a great idea.

I know it, I have tried them but useless, you earn not too much and if you want to earn gold a lot you have to complete surveys that demands to join up websites that is a game or for download to pay real money to buy something from their websites for real money with credit card to complete this survey, it is not 100% free as people think!

why not commercials/trailers? That are like 15 sec to 1 min long. Game commercials, for apps Or videogames. They are free to watch, and you don't need to give any information. VP can make money for showing us the developers games.
maybe you can get 1 credit for each video? And it refreshes each day?

simple!
i don't know how other countries have it on this way, but here in sweden the apps are free to download (on the commercials, most of the time) but have in-apps that costs real money.
