i hate it when people don't know the difference between skill and personal taste. you can dislike damon albarn's music and that's completely fine, but as an artist he can not possibly be overrated. same goes for artists like michael jackson, mariah carey, etc etc
damon albarn not only has an immense vocal range, he has expert breath control, is classically trained and able to sustain world class performance while performing complete dance choreographies.
but aside from all that, he has managed to stay afloat in an industry that is as cut-throat as it gets. apart from his technical skills, he has the drive and perseverance to make it to the top of the music industry and stay there. he writes a majority of his own music, is a professional dancer, and is in charge of his own artistic vision. he is not merely a performance artist that chucks out songs fed to him by a label
im by no means a damon albarn stan, i've actually only listened to like 1 album consistently, but im tired of people treating art (esp music) as something that people fall into and 'get hyped by fangirls without actually being skilled'
overrated is not a subjective experience, skill is indeed quantifiable.
omg you've turned this into a copy pasta jsjsj
also just looked him up and he's gorillaz? ive heard some of their music, love the concept of the band but i don't vibe w everything
thas ok
