- lana del rey is one of the most lyrically interesting female pop singers active rn & dismissing her as "shirt-tugging and desperate" (to quote lorde lmfao) or applying puritanical morals to her music is tacky nd makes u seem uneducated. but also her wild insta rant was off the rails miss lana pls

- one direction was never good you guys are just Straight. watermelon sugar is a shitty song and thats the facts

- same goes for twentyone pilots imagine dragons so many other white boy indie / alt groups whose songs / voice / music / lyrics / vibe r completely interchangeable
what does 'shirt tugging and desperate' even mean lol. yh, i do agree that the whole puritanical panic surrounding her music is weird. who cares if she sings about sleeping with older men and doing drugs or whatever lol. it's her song she can sing what she likes...  who cares if she's 'not a good role model', she's a musician not a children's entertainer
idk lorde was like 17 t the time and basically just dissing lana bc she's sexual nd submissive nd antifeminist or wahtever bullshit

but ya idk even that like ? lana del rey is incredibly well-read and the intertextual literary references and concepts in her music are so abundant ! like if u listen to lana del rey and ur focus is on like "oh no she sings about having sex and doing drugs what a Bad Woman" or whatever then im sorry but perhaps read a book and try again ! idk she's just rly smart and doing rly interesting things w like. the cultural concept of american womanhood & idk

yh that's a good point actually. and no diss to lorde (obv 17 is v young, idk how she feels now), but it's weird to me that people are like 'oh, lyrics have to be feminist and empowering'. like even the most feministy feminist (lol) has done non feminist things and had non feminist thoughts and feelings... why can't she express that? it's so stupid

i love most of the pop girls (past and present), but I just can't get into Taylor Swift... I found her voice just very unpleasant idk
