ok i'm probably going to get shat on for posting this but w/e i just didn't feel the need to continue biting my tongue.
i don't care if i get judged or whatever bc i love the guy. yes he may seem like he's on a downward spiral right now and yes he says some stupid things and acts like a stuck-up dick sometimes but what 19 year old boy doesn't? i really don't care if you don't like him but i think it's unfair that people have set such high expectations and standards for him when most 19 year old boys out there today don't even have the heart to do half the things he has done and accomplish half the things he has.
i also feel that half the reasons mentioned on this forum for not liking him is due to false information.
about the cut for bieber thing. firstly, girls weren't even cutting themselves because it was a prank and joke pulled by some random people from 4chan. secondly, if it was true, why on earth would we blame justin? if anything, those girls should not be harming themselves over something so minor and irrelevant. and to be frank, this would bring the idea of "self-harming" into a whole different level and many people on twitter that have previously self-harmed were outraged because self-harm is a serous topic, not something girls should do to convince their celebrity crush to stop smoking weed. maybe there are reasons out there that people feel the need to self-harm but that is not one of them. so you cannot blame a 19 year old boy for doing what pretty much half the population of 19 year old boys do just because a few girls made stupid decisions over something that they don't even have the right to control.
and for "rape happens for a reason." the magazine that published the article released another announcement saying that they didn't release the whole quote that he said in the article, completely altering the meaning of what he said. his whole quote was along the lines of, "i think that everything happens for a reason...although i don't know why rape would ever be a reason..." and they only published the first half of the quote. so he never even said "rape happens for a reason." he's a 19 year old boy and obviously you say some stupid things you don't mean or have things come out wrong. it just so happens that he's put under a spotlight where people watch and tear apart every single word he says and freak out when every once in a while, the wrong words slip out.
and to address the anne frank situation, he knew that anne frank was really into pop culture around the time that she was alive and so why is it so wrong to hope that she would've been a fan of his if she was still alive? he really respected and admired her so why not wish that she would feel the same way about him if she was alive? legitimately all he wrote was, "hope she would've been a belieber" and the media turned it into this huge outrageous statement where everyone bowed their heads in shame as if it was the rudest and dumbest statement on earth. and right after he visited the museum, anne frank's very own sister defended him, stating that anne frank probably would've been a fan and it wasn't wrong in anyway to hope that she would've been.
wow i legitimately wrote a whole essay, i'm sorry haha. i just don't think it's fair when people expect him to be perfect in every single way and don't expect him to make mistakes. btw, i respect your opinion if you don't like or hate him but i just felt the need to clear up any false information lol
