beyonce is not overrated

i hate it when people don't know the difference between skill and personal taste. you can dislike beyonce's music and that's completely fine, but as an artist she can not possibly be overrated. same goes for artists like michael jackson, mariah carey, etc etc

beyonce not only has an immense vocal range, she has expert breath control, is classically trained and able to sustain world class performance while performing complete dance choreographies.

but aside from all that, she has managed to stay afloat in an industry that is as cut-throat as it gets. apart from her technical skills, she has the drive and perseverance to make it to the top of the music industry and stay there. she writes a majority of her own music, is a professional dancer, and is in charge of her own artistic vision. she is not merely a performance artist that chucks out songs fed to her by a label

im by no means a beyonce stan, i've actually only listened to like 1 album consistently, but im tired of people treating art (esp music) as something that people fall into and 'get hyped by fangirls without actually being skilled'

overrated is not a subjective experience, skill is indeed quantifiable.

well i can't really say for every artist that they're not overrated haha, but in general, i think the term overrated gets thrown around a lot and it's annoying;

i don't think it's her being black it;s just that they want to seem fake intelligent by calling things overrated to sooth their own inferiority complex i suppose
