It's because people are clinging too hard on her down home Disney roots. Humans naturally hate change, so the fact that she so desperately wants to grow up is putting them into a state of denial. Not even denial at themselves, but they're literally denying her to be the person she wants. If she wants to make mistakes, because I definitely don't agree with a lot of things she's done, then she can make them. Don't react to it if it apparently affects your life oh so much. She's twenty one, not twelve. She can do what she pleases, especially as a highly attractive, rich, successful twenty-one year old woman. Don't dictate what's right and wrong when you've most inevitably done something wrong in your life. That's just hypocritical.
