Or what about Aaliyah? She was R&B but if she were alive today, she would be in Beyonce's place and Beyonce wouldn't even be RELEVANT. The only reason Beyonce got to the place she is at today is because Aaliyah is out of the picture.

You may think it's all for attention, but you can't really know that for sure. I think it really depends on the artist.
