It’s a day to celebrate the beauty of travel, diversity, and the rich cultural tapestry that makes our world so special.

To join in the celebration of this exciting and meaningful day, we invite you to dress up to reflect your culture/nationality/ethnicity et cetera. Once you've designed the perfect outfit post it in the comments with a short description of what you're representing, along with something you love about it or a fun fact!

Since I am half Dutch and half Surinamese, I decided to do Surinam today!
I tried my best to make a Koto which is the traditional clothing in Surinam. It is a multi-layer wrap around outfit with a special headpiece called an Anisa.

Fun fact: you have to be very precise while folding your anisa, because every folding type has its own meaning. Also to make sure that your anisa doesn't fall over, we starch it so it gets all stiff and can withstand a whole day of dancing :3

So... I`m Latvian, so my character represents traditional Latvian folk costume. Despite Latvia is small, the folk costume is quite different in different Latvian regions. My source of inspiration was

That is traditional for Latvian region Kurzeme. All in all, the two main types of folk costume may be emphasized - archeological and ethnographc costume. Archeological costumes are reconstructed by archeological material. Ethnographic costumes comes from the end of 18th century and are widely represented in traditional Latvian Song and Dance festival that is included in UNESCO list of Oral and Intangible Heritage

Fun fact: Kasabu boavalhu, the embraided part of the dress elaborately decorating the neckline of the dress is made from imported cotton, silk, and metallic threads. A range of colors are used for the embroidery work. Green, Gold, and Silver as well as red and blue are used for the stunning designs.
