Met Gala 2020 - VP Edition

This year's theme was really interesting and challenging. My outfit is created by the lovely Donatella Versace and we took inspiration from medieval fashion and modern fashion and we had to include, of course, a lot of golden details. I'm looking forward to see all the beautiful outfits tonight, it's going to be a lot of fun.

And here we go again the most important day in fashion industry- The Met Gala
I had the honor to work with the one and only Paco Rabanne.
we worked on the outit right after the theme was announced,we took inpiration from Rabanne's last
fall/winter 2020-21 fashion show "Taking place within the medieval hall of the Conciergerie, this #PacoRabanne collection presents a composite portrait of women who conjure contemporary forces of light and dark."
"Exploring new territory through elaborate workmanship, #JulienDossena adapts garments associated with historical dress to arrive at radically crafted expressions of female power."
We took this idea to suite an outfit for me.
i'm looking foward to see the amazing outfits tonight and of course to meet Rihanna.

So, duration, the time during which something continues. Fashion and trends is an ever-evolving circle, trends go and come back, fabrics, prints, silhouettes, colors, they all live in the circle of fashion, and never fully leave. Here in this look ive tried to take inspiration from the exhibition; of pairing the new with the old, and showing the concept of duration.
This outfit it created with pieces from different eras. The item that sticks out the most is the ruff, a neckpiece famed for its height during the elizabethan era. Here seen with a colorful twist and you can see the color scheme is the same in all pieces. I am wearing a 90s slip dress paired with a victorian era frock dress. On my feet, there are pumps, which have fluctuated in trend but has always stayed quite popular in the general public since its invention. Im also wearing socks in heels inspired by the modern-day street style trend. For accessories we have red silk gloves form history, modern jewelry and corset-belt with chain and a futuristic hat as the icing on the cake.

happy virtual met ♥️

My amazing met gala outfit is made by the one and only Guo Pei, himself. He is a fashion designer from China and are high up in the business. I really wanted to both look and feel like a royal from the 20th-century. I wanted this look to be both vintage and also modern which I think Guo did an excellent job to achieve. I love how complex the years theme is! You can dive into your creativity, because there is so much that are possible in fashion with this theme . I also love that we today can honor the 20th- century as the beautiful time it was fashion wise. The fabric of the dress is actually from china, while the feathers is from India, the fabric from the peachy dress is from Indonesia, so when I think about it my outfit represent not only me, but alot of other countries. These are countries that need help and that is why I started the "Fashion can help" organization. Be sure to check that out.

With jewelry accents from Tiffany and accessories and modifications by Betsey Johnson, my entire ensemble is composed almost entirely of pieces reclaimed from thrift stores. The inspiration was how all old fashions come anew, and how no modern look is 100% without influence from past trends. Additionally, the look is meant to remind us of how "fast fashion" can easily be substituted with sustainable recycling and re-imagining of currently-existing vintage pieces. Classic pieces such as a flapper's bodice over a flowing, almost-renaissance gown are styled with starkly modern accessories such as dainty pink sunglasses and steel-toed boots. Additionally, traditional accents such as flowing waves and the pearl necklace have been made modern with vivid dyes and a transformation from a necklace to a full-body harness, paired with a small blade, meant to represent the Sword of Damocles- showing that anything (or anyone) in the public eye only lasts as long as the trend.
