How to survive an island for dumbies 101

You wake up on a beach, and you don't recognise your surroundings.
it takes you awhile but finally you realise you're on a small island in the middle of nowhere.

The first thing you need to do is forage for wood and anything edible before it gets too dark.
perhaps some edible wild flowers or mushrooms, but be careful some could potentially be poisonous.
If you're quick with your hands, one could always try fishing!
finding a sharp piercing rock or stick would definitely help you out here.

Once you have some provisions the next thing you should probably think about is building a fire to help rescue crews find you (and maybe cook that fish you caught too).
Although chances are the wood is wet from the storm,
look for some flint rocks on the beach and find the driest leaves/flammable object around to attempt to dry and light the wood.
it'll probably take a few (or many) tries to get a fire started, but don't give up!
Since things are damp from the storm, fire would also be very helpful to keep you from catching a cold.
Otherwise you could always collect rocks and form a giant s.o.s. in the sand as a last resort.

Next is shelter.
Find somewhere a little inland where you could be safe to rest.
While searching for a good place for shelter,
always beware of any possible predators as you never know whats out there.
Try not to move too rapidly through bushes and brush as it can usually attract predators.
Plus the quieter you are, you'll probably have a better chance of noticing predators first and have just enough time to scurry away.

Once you've done those 3 vital things, try not to panic and well, there is nothing you can really do but wait it out.
I would recommend foraging for food or fishing and finding wood at least once a day since you have no idea how long it will take for someone to find you and you'll need food and fire in the meantime.

Well, Good luck! Try to find something to help you pass the time as you wait!
