Vela Black is a half-blood, a stain on the Noble and Most Ancient House of Black. Born to the pureblooded Alphard Black and the muggleborn Sophia Hunter in the winter of '76, her and her mother spent the next few years laying low in society after the sudden inexplicable death of Alphard. She was sorted into Ravenclaw, a highly unsurprising event - as was the discovery that her patronus took the form of a black mamba; a creature that shies away from confrontation but becomes a force to be reckoned with when threatened. She hopes to become a spell-crafter, curse breaker or both what with ancient runes, arithmancy and DADA being her favourite subjects.
