Glade gets up early. She knows she has to strike first if she wants to survive. She follows the tracks through the dust, down a ridge, and finds their camp. Azriel and the Mercurii are still resting, however not asleep.
Without hesitation, Glade drives her sickle into the Mercurii. The attack is fast, and it doesn’t get back up.
Azriel sees everything. She falls to her knees, hands shaking. She knows that she won't win this fight, she isn't prepared.
So she puts her hand in pocket, pulling out some Kirr sap, and ingest it. This is the only way, if she doesn't want to be defeated by anyone else's hand.
Before Glade reaches her, Azriel's body lies limb on the red ground.
