So at a retail job we both used to work, he volunteered to cover a shift on a scheduled off day. He began drinking with a friend before his shift, so I said, "Don't you work today?" He said that since he wasn't scheduled, he didn't have to come into work. I told him that because he volunteered, work was expecting him and it would be considered a no-call no show. He fed me some lie to tell our supervisors. I didn't want to tell the truth and deal with him being dramatic, so I modified his lie to make it sound more believable (it was around the lines of, 'he was gone when I woke up, idk where he's at, I suspected he was running errands or something. didn't respond to my messages)

Well of course they ask me where he's at after a half-hour of his shift passes. Of course they try to call him and he doesn't respond until several calls later. So there he is, buzzed and at work. Really who reasons in such a manner? what the fuck.

he was just being stupid then lol
i still think its selfish though, clearly he knew they expected him to be there and was ok with somebody unexpectedly having to make up for his laziness

what I don't understand is how he didn't realize that by agreeing to show up, that meant the schedule was technically re-written.

he may not have been a lil slow (I mean I don't think he's severe enough to be qualified legally as mentally incompetent/intellectually disabled by the state if he actually is) but he's not the brightest crayon in the box. lol.
