so like when do i get to do nothing?

Ok, please don't kill me for this - but I am so jealous of people who get ill (like, a real bad cold with an accompanying fever) once or twice a year.

Why?

Because being ill like that lets you exist in an undemanding sort of state for a while. Think about it, right? When you're feverish and feeling like shit, unless you have kids, nobody expects you to:
* clean or even tidy
* take out the trash
* go grocery shopping
* cook proper meals
* work

Basically, when you're ill, it's totally ok to just spend a few days on the couch, not wearing proper clothes, doing nothing. Wanna sleep, watch netflix, eat ice cream and drink tea with too much honey? Do it! Nobody's gonna judge you or think of you as lazy - after all, you're ill and you need to rest.

And that leaves me - I never get ill - angry and envious. As fuck. Because when, if I'm never ill, am I gonna get to exist in that undemanding sort of state? I mean, without working EXTRA hard first as to "deserve it".

Can anybody tell me when? Please. I'm dying to know.

Yeah, I used to love being ill when I was a child bc I didn't have to go to school. XD

It doesn't work to just allow MYSELF to do it, by the way. The situation has to be that no one else would judge me if they knew, that no one would think of me as lazy etc.

Me too. Aside from the fact that my mom wouldn't let me do ANYTHING I might enjoy the slightest. Watching tv, playing on the computer, playing video games etc were all things that were strictly forbidden to do when ill in my home growing up. Or, you were allowed to do it - but only after 3pm when all the other kids had gotten home from school.

usually my parents weren't at home with me tho. So even if they forbid me it wouldn't had worked.

Do you think that works or? Because it doesn't.

Once last year I got so desperate I licked the handle on the inside of a public bathroom door, because even getting a stomach flu would be worth it if it just allowed me to be free from responsibilites and musts for a few days. It didn't work. My immune system is made of stainless steel, is my theory. Thanks a lot mom, for letting me grow up with five younger siblings and one bathroom! That shit boosts the fuck out of the immune system. I could go to a preschool and deal with the kids and not wash my hands ONCE and not get sick. I promise.

I never get ill either, but I love it. It means that I’m never falling behind with work. I hate being ill because you can’t do anything. You can’t go to school, can’t go to work and can’t exercise
I hate having to do things all the time. I want a break from life, and I want no one to judge me or think of me as lazy for it. I'm tired and exhausted.

My mom was always on parental leave until I was about 13 lol. My youngest brother is a little over 12 years younger than I am, and she had 6 kids in 12 years sooo... she was always home. And after 13, I've gotten ill like twice.

My bf is ill as we speak and he would definitely judge me if he knew I thought I deserved the same kind of rest despite not being ill.

That’s called a vacation
No, I use my vacation to do fun things. Bf never has to use his vacation for this, because he gets ill once or twice a year. I think as a reward for being so healthy, I should be allowed around ten days a year that does not fall with my vacation days just to rest as well.

wait so does he think you never deserve to rest like that unless you're ill? that doesn't sound fair.

Oh, it's not that he doesn't think I deserve to rest - it's just that he doesn't think I have the same right to totally neglect caring for the home, cooking, shopping or doing other thinks that have to get done to just lay on the couch watching netflix and drinking tea for like three days. I think I do. I think I do have the right to act as if though I was ill, in the sense of neglecting responsibilites and just fucking chill.

I would gladly pay for it by becoming ill, if that was a possibility. Which it's not, because my immune system and so on.

Think about it? When you're ill, it's totally ok to lay on the couch watching netflix DESPITE piles of dishes, trash that needs taken out, an empty fridge and so on. Which is what he's gonna do and expect me to do it. If I don't do it and suggest we do it together when he feels better, that's me being mean. But I don't wanna do it. I want the same kind of demandless rest. Actually, I demand it.

Then use your vacation to do nothing once in a while
Bf doesn't have to do that. Normal people that get sick once or twice a year don't have to do that. Then I shouldn't have to do that, either. In fact, I won't do that. I will take as many sick days off from life as normal people getting ill once or twice a year. I think I deserve that JUST AS MUCH, ill or not. I can eat poop or something if it makes it more right. Or walk on burning coal. I can suffer for it, just as long as I get it.

Can someone please just tell me WHEN this is gonna happen for me? Without wasting vacation days or w/e. WHEN IS IT GONNA HAPPEN?
