Etsy has done something with their algorithm, so I keep getting rly nice recommendations to go bankrupt with buy

Now I've just realized they collect VAT for EU customers??? Does anyone have any experience with this?

If not, please share nice etsy things

I'm like 90% sure this is just dropshipping, but it's perfect

I feel like Instagram + Etsy is a good way to go, plus image search and seeing what people sell.

Most chinese dropshippers will often use the same pictures or pictures with such a specific vibe to them that it's hard not to think it's them.

Also comparing stuff sellers sell. If it's a specific aesthetic and the same kind of stuff they sell, I often feel less worried about buying from them.

Yes I bought from them like yesterday n they collected vat, hopefully they label ot properly on the shipping label tho so I don't have to argue with shipping company abt having to pay double vat and fees (its probbaly fine cus its happened to me before but still annoying). Crazyyy shipping tho, I got like 600kr worth of stuff and shipping was almost 400 I think and vat like 270

Yep, I was just buying scented putty and wax for diamond painting so that was fine cus obv not dropshipped for multiple reasons, but I looked at diamond painting pens too and like 80% of them were just from aliexpress 😭 shocking amount of ppl buying them too, I have multiple of them from aliexpress for like 5$ max, while on there they were 20-40$++ not included shipping, crying for these ppl

I hate etsy because it suggests me nice vintage clothing but then the seller wants like 200€ for simple pants just because they are from the 70s.

Also I do agree on the chinese stuff. sad It's frustrating, but it's like getting an ad for etsy.

as a not-as-active-as-i-used-to-be etsy seller, i feel the need to say that if u find something you want to buy from an indie artist, pleaseeeee check first if said artist offers another platform for u to buy through. etsy is such an awful platform to sell through for small creators, the only reason most of us are still there is cause it has incredible visibility, but at some point it stops being worth it when you see etsy take like 45% of your earnings as fees........ just to later punish u with less visibility cause you didnt give a tracking number to someone that *didnt* pay for tracked shipping :)

I usually check descriptions etc. for other links before buying! Most artists usually have a stuff for cheap(er) on their own website, so I don't mind if it makes sense to do. (Most smaller artists don't do the VAT thing outside of Europe, which is fair, but if Etsy does that for them, I'm sorry but I'll either just not buy or buy through Etsy because VAT + extra fees makes stuff expensive af here)

It has happened to me before that aliexpress doesn't write the vat number thing on the package so I get double vat fee, but I have just contacted the mail service n had to send in invoice thing to them on email and they fix it fast. Its annoying tho, but at least its fixable I guess, probably the same where u live
