In addition to that..
A police officer shot my friend because he was a racist bastard and claimed that he was afraid of a 18 yrs old Ethiopian boy that had a little fight with his friend nearby so he decided to shot him, my friend wasn't armed nor he did anything for that police officer, that officer wasn't even wearing his uniform and and they didn't really talk to each other, he just heard my friend with his friend and yeah.
my friend got shot some where near him shoulder, but he did not survive this. only because he's a black guy.
he's also not the only one that was killed for no good reason.

My personal experience with them is that in our neighborhood there was a group of 3 .. DUMB patrol police officers, that looked and really TRIED to catch young people drinking and smoking, there was a specific redhead WITCH that hated me and always when she saw me she stopped me and tried to check me all the time, though I was smoking I never drank outside? it was when I was a 12 yrs old I think (yeah I sadly smoked at those times) 
most of them are just like that, but there are some good people there.

The training is 3 years or more so that's good but we still have problems with right wing idiots and nazis (reichsbürger aka people who don't acknowledge the German state) in the police force and the way they deal with left wing protesters (eg G20 protests) is not great. 
You don't get shot by rubber bullets tho. 
There have been around 200 people who have been killed by the police in the last 30 years, definitely too many and there have been cases of racial profiling and cases were immigrants have been treated bad. 

Compared  to the US it's chill I guess but there are problems. 

A thing that I personally know destroyed many lifes is how they handled cases of people owning small amounts of weed, had a buddy who got a permanent entry in his file and has to explain it for owning 10g of weed.
