oh lmao, but same man. i still wear this black sweater i've had for 13-14 years lol

maybe you have some friends who are a similar size and you can invite them over to look at your stuff and pick out things they want? it's always helped me knowing that someone else is gonna wear and enjoy my old stuff rather than just like sending it into the void

Idk sounds harsh, but it's just to get it together and do it to be honest

Like really just be like did i use this at all the last months, does it fit my style anymore? and if not just get rid of it..

i used to get rid of a lot of clothes because i moved around a lot, and i too mydelf like to hoard but my friends encouraged me.
but heres things id try:
1. offer clothes to friends or my sister. i know a lot of people like my clothes so i tend to just hand bits out when i grow out of them!
2. if they have holes or stains i like to rip them up and use them as rags to clean my room, or for when im painting
3. if there is fabric i like on clothes, or i still like the item and it just needs something *extra*, ill cut it up and make something new.
4. donate! i take the remaining bits to a charity bin or store. sometimes if i see a clothing item that i think people won't buy at a charity shop i'll do step 3 and donate. custom donations, oh yeah! B)

thats my ritual x i moved around 5 times in 2019! had to get rid of loads

If i haven’t worn them in a year and i can’t build a wearable outfit around them at the moment with what i have it’s time for them to go! That’s the mentality. I sell all that is worth something and donate the rest.
(exceptions are super fancy clothes like dresses and suits ofc)

I recently donated a huge amount of clothes to a freeshop, and people was really excited about it so that made me really happy ♥ That might be a motivation?

* donate
* recycle (deliver at textile recycling)
* sell
* upcycle
* ask if friends or family wants something
* add them to a fb group for your local area to give away\ sell

How to get yourself to let go of it:
* try it on
* does it fit well? does it look good on you? is this your style anymore? do I have enough of other pieces that do the same job? Can I use it as fx. paining clothes or something when needed (So u can keep it)
* it's okay to keep some. you don't have to get everything out in one go.

Yes it's true
I need that mentality period
and honestly, I have never regretted giving something away so why am I afraid of that

One thing to remind urself off to is, that likely those things when given away might not even strike your mind anymore. Because they might not have brought joy in the first place

I like the minimalist-movement and all but sometimes it can be a bit stressful
