I think I would just say "I think it's a real possibility I have autism" just as a statement before the test, or if they ask you. If they react negatively, try not to elaborate or something, and ask to get on with the test. Though I've heard medical professionals who downplay or don't like autism before, they're kind of rare.
Before the test, I woud try and ask them for things which could make me more comfortable taking the test; such as a cup of tea, some juice, or some water. They have this most places, at least where I'm from. If there are other sensory problems, ask politely for them to be fixed so you have the best experience possible, such as shutting the blinds for the sun, closing the door, taking out a tangle/stim item/comfort item from home, etc. They should be accomodating of that.
If you feel they're not taking you seriously, or feel the urge to challege something they say, I would advice you to disengage and try maybe some breathing exercises to calm yourself? Try not to overthink, it's their job and even if there are some bad apples I promise you they are not all supposed to be like that. Even if you have bad past experiences, they're not all supposed to be like that
ahhhh tysm that's actually super helpful & very reassuring ? i have a rly hard time not reacting immediately to things so thts actually .. very good advice, ty

Kit - you are so welcome.
Is there any of the tests/procedures you have questions about? I can walk you through them the best I can remember.

can i ask u a question if is not too personal? I was diagnosed with add but sometimes i feel that maybe i have a kind of autism. How were u diagnosed with autism? Because this kind of illnesses are difficult to diagnose and i heard that sometimes people diagnosed with add are actually autistic but they were diagnosed incorrectly.
Of course! I'm an open book!
I got diagnosed with atypical autism when I was like 15, which was weird because I was 100% sure they were gonna say ADD. turned out they could only give out one diagnosis at a time for kids. It was a weird rule that I didn't know of.
Two years ago I asked for assessment and it turned out I was right - I also had ADD. (they also got permission to change atypical autism to aspergers)
Anyways.
Neurodivercity is a whole spectrum. Some things goes hand in hand, and there are a lot of similarities between autism and ADD. Sometimes the different assessments are similar to each other, so I think that might affect the way of looking at it? Imo they're pretty... basic and simple.
I think one of the biggest common thing is the internal bubble. Like, when you live in your own world and doesnt really notice your surroundings. Hypersensitivity is also really common.
But also, I have at least 5 aspie friends that also have add/adhd. Its a super common combination!
Okay, this text is a mess, sorry
