Before I even think about trying to write a reply even tho I don't directly consider it problematic, I just think it could be better u know - (And specific people\blogs might be problematic and general tendencies.) - I have to utter my confusion to even try to comprehend the amount of content presented as cottagecore. It seems to have moved away from being about cottages and into just a wild array of posts with certain common traits like color (green, white + a third color), nature-themed, berry-picking... It crosses over to so many sub-genres nearly all nature-reliant sorta minimalistic hobbies, life styles and dressing seems to be a part of it... yet the definition is that it is supposed to resemble "western farm life." but yeah there's barely anything farm in that anymore (And why does it have to be only western meh) and one person at least must have done farming as plantations and u know u r not wrong but also it's morally wrong... honestly it's just a form of escapism for city dwelling people. cottage care rose with 130% popularity on tumblr during the beginning of covid so that's pretty clear.
and my biggest stand is probably that if it's supposed to be about farm life, like try to actually support farmers and low-scale farmers around the world or locally that live in fucking poverty while youre out there loving a romanticized image of it.. and gets popularity and followers for it... like give it some depth
also it's pretty whitewashed, if we wanna bring up that part of itĀ
