i think one of the concerns is that people, especially old and or disabled people who need lots of assistence in their daily life will feel pressured to do it, especially in our performance orientated/capitalist society where a person's worth is determined by their producivity
honestly tho if i get diagnosed with als i'd prefer if euthanasia was an option or i'll have to take matters into my own hands and then you kinda have to do it before the illness completely fucks you over (not to be insensitive) 

i guess, but there are many ways to kill yourself, i don't see why you would need to burden a doctor with it tbh, except if you are so far into it that you can't even eat yourself

It's not like they don't do it now, sometimes doctors legit ensure that some patients overdose on something to shorten their suffering.. that's per definition murder.

Prison isn't punishment tho

it isn't supposed to? If the crime isn't enough to put you away for life the main goal is to make you able to life in society again without being a threat to others

I think it's the best way to go out because other suicide is traumatizing for who will find the body and the family are left questioning themselves and stuff while with euthanasia theres jsut time to properly say goodbye and stuff.
