The best is, well, most practical things? No one you have to share things with, who will be in your way when you would otherwise get to be alone, no one to compare yourself to when it comes to how your parents treat you etc. The worst is that you're the only kid in the family, which is noticeable at vacation, and that you're alone in everything you have to go through because of your parents. The rule about not sharing your family issues to people outside of the family makes that you either have to carry it all alone, or break a rule your parents set for you (which doesn't feel good).
