nah, i have the cheapest rent in this whole town, even unemployed i saved enough $$ to live alone for a while while i look for work or hustle up some contracts.
i only charged him 300 a month, and to me, its worth that 300 to be alone.

this particular grant is for me to study and practice textile mending, so i can hopefully get good enough to host repair workshops.

i call my art "the art of radical domesticity," preserving life and survival skills that women have done with no help or praise throughout history,  acknowledging the women who did it unpaid for millennia have never been allowed to call it art.
embroidery, mending, food preservation, gardening, etc.
they're giving me the money because they wanna see me put together a real portfolio, cuz i have been dabbling for almost a decade and they like what they see but want to see it refined. the goal of the grant is to help and push unknown, and unrefined artists into real success. i am so grateful, and i helped several friends get the grant too.

the first grant they gave me back last summer is to teach an embroidery school for teenage girls in 2021. in the town i live in "teaching artists" are a big thing, folks who have realized they are not happy selling their art but want to share their skills so they do not die out.

do u have minimalls/peddlers malls/flea markets where u live?
thats how i decorated my house, lots of ppl selling beautiful antiques that are just damaged enough to lose value but still pretty for the home

i love hiking but some physical limitations have me only enjoying the flat ones (but thats what I live by, and i'm able to do it so im lucky)
