i forgot to say i think your idea is cute, i prefer any  tattoos influenced by popular culture to be quite subtle so i think  stars like those you referenced would be a really good way to do the honors to the movie (or book?) without being too in-your-face.
Aaah this is exactly how I feel! And yes it's for the story, but in every shape it comes! I love the plays, I love the films, I'm ordering the original novel tomorrow haha

Yeah and the dots are not symmetrical so that would stress me out with a tattoo like this
my 1st priority when looking for a new parlour/artist is as clean lines as humanly possible lol. these kinda tattoos really stress my ocd brain out
Omg same! I did the same thing for my first tattoo, and the girl did an amazing job but she added something to the design I didn't notice (it was my own design and I said I wanted it that way) so I was like really nervous so I didn't see it and I kinda regret it but then again nobody really notices and it's a great reminder for the next time haha
i'm glad it's not something super noticeable to others anyway, that'd really suck if you especially wanted your own design. and this is exactly why i often spend like..... actual hours going through the drawings i'm offered by the artists. sometimes they're pissed off when i want to change details to perfect it to my liking because they're like "it's already fine let's just do the job already" but i usually don't go to those artist a 2nd time lol

Aahh I totally get that! I feel like any great artist would change it as many times as needed, even if it's already good enough in their eyes. I felt kinda bad at first because she designed something and it didn't look great at all, but she gave me the design one day before the appointment so that sucked. The change she made to my design was done 5 minutes before she jammed the needle in my arm so I didn't have much time to look at it. So next time I'll definitely ask if I can get the design sooner because I won't let it happen again haha

this is actually something that really gets my goat, like i often book my appointments like 6-12 months in advance for any artist regardless of how much space they have in their book or anything, i just like to have a timeframe to make my own final sketches/search for photo references etc, and i'd really appreciate if the artist could like... meet me in the halfway and do the sketches for my pieces even like a week prior to the appointment. i know it's not how they work around their booking systems and so on, but it's so stressful to wait til the appointment to even see a first drawing?? i've spent the time meant for my tattooing going over their sketch and fixing every single detail i told them i wanted but they didn't listen lol.

i wasn't aware i had this many feelings built up behind.... tattoo sketch timeframes,... but it felt good to rant lmao

Hahahaa yesss let it all out!

But omg I totally get you, I also think that maybe they don't fullyrealize that it might be just another tattoo for them but for us it's something that we'll have forever so we want it to be perfect and not be stressed up until the day of the appointment because we can't get the designs sooner hahaha

exactly, like it kinda sucks when you really appreciate their art and want to commit your skin as a canvas for them to do their thing and they treat the whole thing as a Standard Procedure

but mostly i've had v good experiences with the few artists i've worked with. my "thing" with tattoos is that i usually get one when i travel somewhere, so far i've had tattoos done in 3(?) countries and i'm waiting for covid to GO AWAY so i can travel again. but like i had a pretty huge chest piece done in one sitting (took 6 hours) and i only saw the design the same day lol. i've decided to add more to it to make it fit my body better after looking at it for maybe 2 or 3 years. side note: i really appreciate the fact that the artist agreed to complete the tattoo a couple days later in the appointment my friend had booked for herself even though he pretty much hated my idea and wouldn't ever have designed it himself. i still love the pretty impulsively added detail probably the most about the whole piece and it was worth being stabbed with a tiny needle on my skin in the middle of my sternum lol. it was probably highest on the pain scale i've ever experienced getting tattooed (and i have a tattoo on my knee and one that wraps around the back of my neck and ends on top of the edges of my skull), wouldn't recommend.

Okay wow I love this tattoo! I have always been obsessed with Peter Pan and the fairies. I too  want a tattoo inspired by one of them, but it's hard to come by tattoos that aren't tacky! (Especially fairies)
