to be fair my shit is even cheaper than the average around here, I fell into some luck and I recognize that's a privilege lol
my first apartment i lived in by myself was SUPER cheap i got really lucky/straight up picked a bad neighborhood lmao 

i feel like the price for our place rn is really good for how big and safe and close to public transit and everything like we're paying a fair price for this i don't feel ripped off but the same place in another county would cost like half this lmao.

It's also scary living in a town by an army depot filled with nerve gas and getting an apocalypse calendar with emergency procedures and rolls of plastic to cover your windows every year in case of a gas leak  
that's the next big employer around here, the fucking army depot.

I mean, theres a fuckload of safeties in place. We've even HAD gas leaks that never made it out of the building because it's so multi layered.

But looking back in history their plan to dispose of it was literally just "LOL BURN IT FUCK THESE POOR REDNECKS"
but some folks in my town lobbied HARD to have it broken down safely (I don't understand chemistry enough to explain), and they started that process this year.

But yeah its literally always in the back of my mind, and I pass it on my way to get groceries every month.
